SUMMARY
- Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton are working on a formula 1 based movie.
- The movie production was on halt due to writers strike.
Lewis Hamilton recently disclosed new details about the much-awaited Formula 1 movie starring Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists strikes that took place earlier this year created grave challenges for the production of the movie. Concerns over the usage of AI along with concerns about residual payments acted as the catalyst for these strikes.
However, these strikes cannot stop the excitement within the fans and drivers involved in the project. With the strikes resolved and a deal struck between SAG-AFTRA and the studios, the movie is now again going ahead. The association between Apple TV and Hamilton’s production firm extends beyond the big screen and includes a documentary on the celebrated Mercedes driver.
Lewis Hamilton put a date on the F1 movie
Although the strikes demanded a lot of post-production work, the release date was pushed. The movie had been scheduled to come out in early 2025. With a strong cast and crew, Dawn Apollo Films’ joint venture with Apple’s studio arm is likely to deliver big things. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by director Joseph Kosinski, who is best known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick, the movie has created a lot of buzz.

The Briton stated, “Probably early 2025, I would imagine, with the post-work they’d have to do. So yeah, it’s been delayed a lot.” Filming for the film was carried out at Silverstone along with other Grand Prix weekends. Nevertheless, the repercussions of the strikes forced the withdrawal of initial plans to film in Las Vegas which spotted multiple faces from the industry.
As per IMDB, Brad Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula 1 racer, who comes out of retirement to coach and team up with a younger driver played by Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce.
Max Verstappen shares he has no interest in this exciting project
The impending F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, which is being co-produced by rival Lewis Hamilton, has not peaked Max Verstappen’s attention. The Red Bull driver joined Pitt at the British Grand Prix in July when Silverstone was set up as the backdrop for shooting sequences for the fictional movie “Apex.” Verstappen felt that it was “nice to see” scenes from the Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt F1 movie.

However, on the contrary, he stated, “It doesn’t really interest me that much. I don’t need to see a film of my own sport. This film is of course a made-up story and everything is always over-dramatised, you have to love that. I personally don’t have that much with that.”
Formula 1 has been a popular topic for media ventures due to its recent rise in popularity, which has been spurred by the success of Netflix’s docuseries Drive to Survive. Verstappen, nevertheless, made it clear when this movie opens, he will politely offer to not watch it.
