SUMMARY
- Bronny James has had quite the underwhelming time at USC so far.
- LeBron James' son has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft and entered the NCAA transfer portal as well.
Bronny James is the most famous college athlete and one of the main reasons for that would be his father LeBron James. The 4x NBA champion has built a multi-billion dollar empire on the court and a beautiful family as well. Bronny is the oldest of his children, and he excels in basketball just like his father. The young star was playing for USC up until a few weeks ago, and a recent decision he made has sent the internet into a meltdown.
For those who don’t know, Bronny declared for the 2024 NBA Draft and entered the NCAA transfer portal at the same time. It is understood that the player to keep all his options available, and his career would not be at a dead-end if one of them fails.

His decision to declare for the draft received mixed reactions, as many pointed out that he was not ready for an intense league. Some claimed that Bronny may be a better pro player, as we have seen many excel in the toughest basketball league in the world more than anywhere else.
NBA scouts believe Bronny James was played out position at USC
Brian Windhorst has been one of the top insiders when it comes to news and updates about King James. It would not be a big surprise to claim that he might be up to date with all the news regarding his son as well. Recently, Windhorst spoke about Bronny’s situation among NBA scouts and how USC did not do the player any favors. He managed to average only 4.8 points for USC, along with 2.1 assists. (via ESPN)
“NBA scouts don’t think Bronny James was able to put his best foot forward this year because USC didn’t play him in his position…They say that he should play somewhere where he can… Build up his skills.”

Windhorst said on the Pat McAfee Show, “When I talked to scouts about Bronny, they don’t think he was able to put his best foot forward this year the USC didn’t play him in his position. They had several different guard prospects, sorry, NBA Draft prospects, and he played sort of on the wing. They said he should play PG, which is where he played and excelled when he was in high school.”
In addition to that, Windhorst claimed that NBA scouts are under the impression that college basketball may not be the right stepping stone for the player, and it could be somewhere like the Summer League, or even G League. In addition to that, the NBA insider points out that the NBA scouts he spoke to are still waiting to see Bronny unleash his true potential as a guard rather than on the wing.
Bronny is reportedly more focused on the NBA Draft than the NCAA transfer portal
Sam Vecenie, who represents The Athletic, said, “At this point, James is expected to devote his energy to the NBA Draft process in hopes of securing a selection he and his father’s agency, Klutch Sports, would find desirable, multiple league sources tell The Athletic. It is unclear if they have a range of picks in mind or a specific team. But the plan is for James to see what happens over the next couple months before the May 29 withdrawal deadline.”
It isn’t a huge surprise that the player is looking to make his way to the league. The NBA could be a dangerous place where players who aren’t willing to put in the work behind the scenes will fall to the back of the pack. But Bronny certainly looks like an individual who is on a mission, and could well and truly become successful in the future.
