SUMMARY
- LeBron James' current NBA contract with the Los Angeles Lakers runs through the 2024-25 season.
- The King's future has come into doubt, as teams are reportedly trying to sign him by drafting his son Bronny James.
LeBron James’ career has been in doubt for the last few years now. The man has been leaving it all on the floor even at the age of 39 years old. Even in year 21 in the NBA, LeBron continues to average ridiculous numbers. The fact that he is still stepping onto the court now speaks at length about his fitness levels. With that said, there is no doubt that he has considered retirement as well.
The Los Angeles Lakers star admitted during the 2023 ESPY Awards that he wondered if retirement was an option at the time. The Lakers received a brutal reality check after getting swept by the Denver Nuggets, and it was yet another year without a title for James.
Even right now, the Lakers look to be far from the championship contenders, mainly because of their inconsistency. Even with the addition of Spencer Dinwiddie, the Lakers would need to build some momentum to make sure playoff contention remains in sight.
With that said, several NBA teams have been linked with a LeBron James trade. The player expressed huge admiration for the New York Knicks, and an NBA analyst even proposed a trade to the Golden State Warriors as well. But it sure looks like Bronny James could decide LeBron’s fate ultimately.
LeBron James could sign for the team that drafts Bronny
It is no secret that LeBron aims to play with his son Bronny James. The youngster has made a name for himself as a talented player and will most likely be aiming to make it to the NBA as well. But that also means that he could well and truly be a deciding factor for LeBron.
King James has revealed on multiple occasions that his biggest dream would be to play with his son. Considering how big of a goal is that for him, there is a high chance that he could make his way to the team that drafts his son. With that said, a report has been making waves on social media. An NBA insider has mentioned that multiple teams are aiming to draft Bronny and hope to sign LeBron in the process.

Marc Stein mentions that LeBron might consider signing for less than $51.4 million if it means he gets to play alongside Bronny. This would be a huge boost to any team who is interested in signing Bronny.
Bronny James has been linked with the Orlando Magic
In February 2023, ESPN predicted that the Orlando Magic could draft Bronny in 2024. That is assuming the young star declares for the 2024 NBA Draft. However, that looks quite unlikely now, considering the fact that Bronny has just made a comeback after suffering a heart attack.

The incident placed his career into doubt, and he was excluded from the mock draft as well. As it stands, it is unknown whether his goal will be to make his way to the big stage, or stay with USC for another year. Whatever the case, it’s unlikely for LeBron to join the Magic. He has not been secretive about his aversion toward the Orlando-based team, after claiming that he’d rather retire than play for them.
