- Bill Simmons reveals that a LeBron James-Miami Heat reunion has potential
- The Heat will have to offer up Tyler Herro in order to acquire LeBron James
Could LeBron James potentially make a return to the Miami Heat? As many NBA fans should certainly be aware, King James is a 4x NBA champion and currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Although he is supposed to be in the very back of his career in Year 21, the Lakers star has been playing at an unexpected level and is arguably still one of the best players in the NBA.
Since LeBron James signed a 2 year contract which is set to expire in 2025, several members of the NBA media have already begun discussing which team he will take his talents to under the assumption that he decides to leave the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bill Simmons is a somewhat well-known sports podcaster and commentator. He recently discussed the subject of LeBron being traded and opined that the Miami Heat are an option that should not be dismissed.
Will the Miami Heat make an offer to bring back LeBron James?
Veteran NBA fans will remember that some of the best years of LeBron’s career were with the Miami Heat. King James entered the NBA after being drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, he was unable to lead the team to an NBA championship and soon left them and joined the Miami Heat in 2010.
“I think at least one player that you have to be excited about if you’re the Lakers has to be somebody who is young and decent so I think like Herro has to be there…Maybe Tyler Herro & Lowry for LeBron & Gabe Vincent, & then there’s a Miami pick, yeah it’s interesting. It would be the holy shit basketball trade. We’ve had like how many holy shit basketball trades. LeBron going back to Miami was not on the Bingo board.”

While it would undoubtedly be interesting to see LeBron return to his former team, fans soon pointed out that this trade scenario is quite unlikely. Especially since King James didn’t leave the Miami Heat on a very good note with the owners and management.
In any case, one must also wonder if Miami will be willing to give up young talent such as Tyler Herro in order to acquire LeBron at this stage of his career. The performance of the Los Angeles Lakers this season will certainly play a role in the increase or decrease of trade rumors surrounding the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
