Prominent members of the NBA media believe that LeBron James‘ dream of playing alongside Bronny James might not be easy to materialize. As many fans should certainly be aware, King James can already be considered an NBA legend given the level that he is playing at in Year 21.
Those who have been following LeBron for several years will undoubtedly know that the Los Angeles Lakers star has expressed a genuine desire to stay in the NBA long enough to play with his son. LeBron’s eldest son Bronny James is currently 19 years old and recently made his college debut for the USC Trojans.
While making the college team is no ordinary accomplishment, it will be soon forgotten given the expectations that are on Bronny’s shoulders. NBA executive Bobby Marks feels that it will not be very easy for LeBron to fulfill his desire. Since this is a player-empowered era, fans might want to know where Marks is coming from.
Bronny James is projected to be a late first-round pick
At the moment, Bronny James and his basketball career are quite polarizing topics. Although he is the son of LeBron James and has all the resources required to make it to the league, his height, and recent Cardiac arrest are points that are still held against him by NBA experts.
When LeBron mentioned that he wanted to play alongside Bronny, the basketball community assumed that teams would be eager to draft James Jr. in order to acquire his father. However, Bobby Marks revealed that things would not be so easy.

“It’s hard for me to see that. Especially if it’s teams picking up in the top 10, if you look at a team, for example Charlotte, would they pick Bronny James, who maybe some people project late first-round, early-second round with the eighth pick in the draft just for the belief that they can get LeBron James in their building?… Teams don’t operate that way. They operate how their board dictates it.”
Marks certainly makes quite a valid point that fans should analyze with an open mind in order to understand how this situation could potentially unfold.
Although LeBron James came into the league straight out of high school as an otherworldly hyped-up draft prospect, it is clear that things are not going to go the same way for Bronny James. He was barely expected to be a top-20 pick in a projected draft prior to undergoing a cardiac arrest.
