SUMMARY
- Klay Thompson went scoreless during the Warriors vs Kings elimination game.
- The 4x NBA Champion shot 0-10 from the field while going 0-6 from deep.
Four NBA Championships and multiple accolades later, Klay Thompson might have just played his final game with the Golden State Warriors. This core team was formed in 2012 after Draymond Green was added as the final piece. But based on their season struggles, this trio featuring Steph Curry lost to the Sacramento Kings in the Play-In Tournament elimination game.
The Warriors fought hard during the second half of the season going 22-11 which was a far better record than what they achieved during the initial half of the 2023-24 campaign. They managed to accumulate enough wins to distance themselves from the looming Houston Rockets, who were in 11th place. This Play-In Tournament game was their only shot at possibly making it to the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Kings have advanced to play the second round of the Play-Ins and not the Warriors.
Klay Thompson gets called out for going scoreless in an elimination game
Considering that this was an elimination game, the Warriors were expected to bring their best form to the floor against the Kings. Klay Thompson was the sniper to bring success to the team. However, the veteran shooting guard ended up scoreless throughout the game. Fans were deeply upset as one X user said, “Man hard to watch he went 0/10. You want to get pay can’t go out like that.” Another fan said, “Embarrassing that this is how his Warriors tenure ends.”

Thompson is probably never going to hear the end of it as he shot 0-10 from the field and 0-6 from deep. The former Three-Point Contest Champion only recorded 4 rebounds and an assist. Curry was the only Warriors to score over 20 points. Draymond had 12 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Steve Kerr should’ve resorted to bringing Klay off the bench as it yielded better outcomes in the past.
Steph Curry rallies for Klay Thompson to get re-signed despite a terrible season
In 2019, Klay Thompson was offered a five-year $189.9 million contract and this was his final season. There have been a lot of concerns regarding the Warriors re-signing Klay to another deal since he averaged only 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 38.7% from deep. Curry addressed the possibility of witnessing changes during the off-season.

He said, “I can never see myself without those two guys. I understand this league changes and there’s so many things that go into it. We’re not going to play forever, but we’ve experienced so much together. At the end of the day, again, I know they want to win, I know I want to win. That’s all we’re worried about.” Curry further emphasized how things are uncertain in the NBA.
