With the NFL getting intense, many teams have been struggling this season including the Minnesota Vikings. The team is having a difficult time in the league this season as they are 6-6 in 12 games. Many people have been blaming quarterback Josh Dobbs for the team’s poor form. Now, reports suggest that the star player might lose his starting position.
The Minnesota Vikings lost their recent game against the Chicago Bears by 10-12. During the game, Josh Dobbs completed 22 out of his 32 passing attempts. He had just 1 TD and 4 interceptions for 185 passing yards while starting the game. After that game, it seems like the team might be looking for other QB options available to them.
Vikings will “evaluate” their QB position during their upcoming bye week. After watching QB Josh Dobbs throw four interceptions in the 12-10 loss to the Bears, HC Kevin O’Connell said he will spend the bye week reviewing the best path forward. “We’re going to take a look and…

The Vikings’ head coach Kevin O’Connell made it clear that he’ll be reviewing the 28-year-old QB’s performance now. It’s worth noting that the team will be having their bye week now. The Tennessee-born coach mentioned that he’d “evaluate” Dobbs and the starting QB position. This further means that the team might announce a change in their starting quarterback.
Born in January 1995, Josh Dobbs has been struggling this season. The NFL star has got only 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. However, the Vikings HC still accepted that Dobbs “battled, no flinch, and just kept playing and competing”. He mentioned that the 6-foot-3 QB tried his best to help the team win.
Despite all his attempts, Josh Dobbs couldn’t save his team from another loss. Now, only time will decide the fortune of the former Pittsburgh Steelers star in the team.
What are the QB options available to the Vikings to replace Josh Dobbs?
The Minnesota Vikings traded Josh Dobbs in October from the Arizona Cardinals. After that, the star player took the starting position in week 9 as Jaren Hall was out with a concussion. At that time, the team’s 2nd QB Nick Mullens was also on the injured list due to a back injury. Now, HC Kevin O’Connell has revealed who are the available QBs for them.
“We’re going to take a look and really evaluate the inventory of plays we have of Josh… We got healthy. We got Jaren (Hall) back available to us, and then Nick Mullens is available as well,” he said.
It’s worth noting that quarterback Jaren Hall is ready to take the starting position back. Along with that, Mullens has also recovered and is on the active roster. Notably, the 28-year-old QB passed the concussion protocol last week itself. This further means that if the team doesn’t find Josh Dobbs good during the bye week, they might replace him.
The Vikings have their next game on December 11 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Mark Davis’ team isn’t having a good season either with a 5-7 record. Now, it’ll be interesting to see if Josh Dobbs gets to start that game or not.
