Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill were the topics of discussion when UFC legend and commentator Daniel Cormier sat down with Joe Rogan for the 150th episode of the JRE MMA show. The UFC commentators argued over whether Jamahal Hill could knock out the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
In the episode, Rogan acknowledges the power of Jamahal Hill by stating that he is a ‘real challenge’ for Alex Pereira. He added that Hill is a sniper and finds chins in the UFC. Cormier interrupted Rogan to point out that ‘Sweet Dreams’ had previously stated that he would knock out Pereira.
Cormier referred to the statement made by Hill on his YouTube channel about the Light Heavyweight Champion. Hill boldly stated, “Mark my words when I say this, whenever I do fight him [Pereira], standing, I will knock him out, and when I do, I’m going to rub it in every single one of y’all’s face”.
Pereira responded to Hill’s claim of a ‘standing knockout’ in a live YouTube Q&A: “Everybody saw that he was saying he will knock me out and he won’t wrestle me, he will stay in the striking and he will knock me out. Sure, obviously every guy who could be the next [challenger] for the champion will start talking, but I think he’s a little bit [overconfident]”.
Circling back to the JRE MMA show, Rogan heard Cormier and agreed with Hill. He went on to state, “Jamahal might knock him out. Jamahal got some nasty hands man”. Cormier pushed back on the statement that he would try to take Pereira down and not try to give him a standup fight.
Jamahal Hill has been sensational in his career as a martial artist. He has won 12 out of 14 pro bouts in his career. Since his loss to Paul Craig in June 2021, Hill has been on a winning streak with four straight wins and three knockouts.
Alex Pereira willing to move on from Jamahal Hill after controversy
The potential clash between Alex Pereira and Hill is under some shade after the recent controversy surrounding Jamahal Hill. The UFC fighter was arrested over a domestic violence case involving his brother. Hill assaulted his brother, James Hill, on November 27 for $300.

According to TMZ, Jamahal Hill offered his brother $300 for clearing his house, which James did but forgot the freezer. Jamahal confronted James about the situation via text, which prompted him to return to Jamahal’s house. The brothers came face to face, which gave rise to another back and forth over Thanksgiving Day texts. The argument went out of hand, which caused ‘Sweet Dreams’ to sucker punch James, which knocked his teeth out.
The former light heavyweight relinquished the title in July after rupturing his Achilles while playing basketball. Jamahal Hill is expected to fight Pereira to take his belt back, but this controversy might prompt Pereira to move on from Hill.
