Combat sports have brought us some of the most powerful and hard-hitting athletes in the world. Notably, Francis Ngannou is the first name that may come to mind during this conversation. However, as Joe Rogan reveals, the honor belongs to a rather unexpected entity in UFC middleweight Joe Pyfer.
Recently, Rogan had a sit-down with UFC welterweight and surging contender Sean Brady. During the JRE MMA Show #152, the UFC color commentator discussed a plethora of topics with the 31-year-old prospect. Among the topics they discussed was that of Brady’s fellow Marquez MMA trainee, Joe Pyfer.

Speaking about the middleweight contender, Rogan said, “That motherf****r hits so hard. We should tell everyone, that he (Joe Pyfer) broke Francis Ngannou’s record on that punch machine.” Further, as the podcaster and Brady revealed, many did not wish to believe that Pyfer was even capable of such a feat. As such, the middleweight reportedly notched up the high score thrice in a row, just to make the onlookers believe.
However, Pyfer’s high score was labeled as an anomaly, with some stating that the machine was ‘bugged’. With that said it must be noted that Francis Ngannou, deemed the hardest puncher on the planet, racked up a score of 129,161 units on a PowerKube. The record, set in 2018, was said to be higher than the likes of other UFC heavyweights and even heavyweight boxing champions like Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.
Joe Pyfer responds to rumors of his punching power
Naturally, it is understandable if some are hesitant to believe that Joe Pyfer could be capable of beating Francis Ngannou’s score. A relatively lesser-known UFC fighter, Joe is yet to break into the middleweight top 15 as of now. However, owing to this recent news, there is a lot of hype gathering around him.
Following the airing of the podcast, numerous MMA pages clipped this particular segment. In the hours that followed, the matter became a widely discussed one, with fans understandably doubting the 27-year-old. Since his second-round KO of Ozzy Diaz on the Contender Series, Pyfer has secured back-to-back first-round KOs in the UFC as well. In his latest fight, he submitted Abdul Razak Alhassan in Round 2.

With such a buzz around his name online, ‘Bodybagz‘ finally gave his thoughts on the matter. Taking to his Instagram stories, he wrote, “I have video proof but didn’t post cause they wouldn’t put respect on my power!! Just wait and see.” Further, to rest his case, Joe then shared testaments from other fighters who witnessed him breaking the record. Additionally, Sean Brady attested to the same during the podcast as well.
As mentioned previously, Joe Pyfer is yet to break into the middleweight top 15. Currently, he is set to take on #10-ranked contender Jack Hermansson on February 11, 2024. For the most part, it is expected that Pyfer will beat the tenured Hermansson and claim his spot in the rankings. Thus, it will be interesting to see how his career progresses from here on out.
