With a 124-114 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, the Boston Celtics maintained their perfect 5-0 NBA record. This season, the team’s starters—Jayson Tatum among them—led the way with a collective 103 points, averaging 99.8 points per game. On Monday, the Celtics resume their road trip against the Timberwolves.
Tatum became the youngest player in Celtics history to achieve 10,000 career points and hit the 30-point threshold for the fourth time this season. Jayson Tatum not only walked off with the pride of breaking records but also a heartwarming hug from his mother, Brandy Cole-Barnes. His relationship with his mom has always been seen by NBA fans on the court in most of Tatum’s high-stakes matchups.

In November 2016, Jayson, who calls himself a “mama’s boy,” told ESPN that Brandy is his “best friend.” He said, “I’m the biggest mama’s boy ever, and I’m proud to say it.” Cole-Barnes once disclosed that she used to text her son Tatum during NBA games but that she eventually became aware of the harm that social media was doing to him.
Tatum is now a parent to a boy named Deuce, and Cole-Barnes finds it incredible to see how much he has grown. The Celtics won the game thanks to a 32-point outburst by Jayson Tatum. With six straight wins, the Celtics advanced to 5-0 for the first time since 2009–2010.
Jayson Tatum’s performance this season so far
The Boston Celtics, led by All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum, have been playing very well both offensively and defensively. Tatum has improved in pull-up jump jumpers, finishing at the basket, and post-play, while the Celtics have thrived in transitioning, scoring, and post-ups. They still need to work on their bench consistency and 3-point defense, though.

The Celtics are expected to win the regular season despite these obstacles. Tatum makes it look simple to execute double-doubles. The star forward made history on Saturday night by becoming the youngest player in Boston Celtics history to reach 10,000 career points. In addition, he is the first player in NBA history to reach 1,000 three-pointers and 10,000 points before turning 26.
Tatum didn’t let Brooklyn’s attempts to pick up the tempo phase him. He was quite precise from a distance and played a strong defense. The Celtics appear to be a formidable team. On Monday, they will go to the Timberwolves and play for the chance to maintain their perfect record. They will play their first in-season tournament game against the Nets on Friday when they return to TD Garden.
