Jamahal Hill made several headlines after fans noticed Hill’s Instagram bio, which announced him as the UFC LHW Champion with a record of 13-1. For those unaware, Jamahal Hill is 12-1 in his MMA career as he takes on Alex Pereira for the light-heavyweight title at UFC 300 in Las Vegas.
Fans compared the same to Ilia Topuria, who proclaimed himself the UFC Featherweight Champion ahead of his fight against Alexander Volkanovski. The Spaniard would make those words actual with a vicious KO win over Volkanovski to become the new 145-pound king.

While the antics worked for Ilia Topuria, Jamahal Hill has revealed he is following a different path than the UFC Featherweight. Hill hasn’t changed his Instagram bio because of UFC 300 and has had the exact words written on his social media profile from his days as the UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion.
Jamahal Hill addresses changing Instagram bio ahead of UFC 300
In a recent conversation with MMA journalist Helen Yee, the former UFC champion revealed that he never changed his Instagram bio and the 13-1 accounts for the win he secured against Klidson Abreu, which was later turned into a No-Contest after Hill tested positive for marijuana. Moreover, Hill has never actually lost the title.
“I never changed my bio. After I beat Glover, to me, that was the 13th win. If you look at the tie or the no-contest, I still count that as a win. I TKOed the guy, so 13 wins.”
“I think I did see that, it was like Ilia Topuria, nah, and I still feel like I am the Champion.” Hill further added.
Jamahal Hill became the UFC Champion after beating Glover Teixeira unanimously in January 2023 at UFC 283 last year. The American fighter had to later vacate the belt after suffering a gruesome Achilles injury in a basketball game during International Fight Week. The basketball game was a friendly encounter between several UFC fighters in the lead-up to UFC 290 in Las Vegas.
There are concerns regarding his return to the cage, as many fans believe Hill might not be the same fighter he used to be before the Achilles injury. Moreover, going against someone like Alex Pereira has only made matters worse for Hill. What are your thoughts on the UFC 300 main event? Do let us know in the comments section.
