While things seemed very glistening on the outside, reality hit the audience hard after the deal was eventually made public. The TKO Group left the audience numb after it hinted at the mass firings of the newly formed company.
WWE stars who were signed by the company but had little to no in-ring appearances lay in jeopardy. Wrestlelamia released a video on their official YouTube channel where a lot of stars got into the limelight. The fans couldn’t control their emotions and expressed their concern for their favorite WWE star.
Elias was the man that every viewer didn’t want to lose on the WWE card. “Wouldn’t be surprised if hit row be one of them, but Elias I’m worried about,” wrote one user. “I got a bad feeling over Matt Riddle,” wrote another fan who feared for the future that Matt Riddle has in WWE.
Ari Emanuel, the CEO of Endeavor, first broke the news of the firings when he spoke to CNBC. Justifying his decisions, he claimed that the firing would be done in order to reduce redundancy. How will WWE benefit from the merger with UFC?
The WWE-UFC merger had been in the talks for a long time. With the talents from the top two combat sports joining hands, the events would be no less than a banger for the audience. A trailer for what will come next was shown on the recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Dwayne Johnson made his first WWE appearance in the last four years, leaving the fans cheering at the top of their voices.
Pat McAfee had a huge role in making his appearance a resounding success. The two were also a part of the recent edition of The Pat McAfee Show and The Rock spoke about many things. DJ confessed that he was to make a return at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns, but the plans were canceled.
Dwayne was then informed of the WWE-UFC merger and decided to make his return after the deal was finalized. Dwayne also hyped up the fans about his WrestleMania 40 presence, saying, “There’s WrestleMania in Philadelphia… I’m saying that that’s a potential too so I’m open.” Only time will reveal how things change in the next six months to fix the card for WrestleMania 40.
