Lil Tay, real name Claire Hope, was announced dead via an Instagram post on August 9, 2023. Along with Lil Tay, it was announced that her brother has also died.
Lil Tay rose to stardom in 2018 through her viral videos. She would flex a lot of cash, cars, and houses in her videos. She made waves in the world of hip-hop as well by creating a viral collaboration with rapper 6ix9ine.
However, she stopped making content the same year. Controversies shrouded her life since then as it was reported that she was put on house arrest by her father.
Following this, the internet lost touch with her until 2021. A message was posted from her account in 2021, however, the Insider reports that Lil Tay’s mother confirmed that her Instagram account was at times handled by her brother Jason Tian. It is still unclear who posted the message announcing Lil Tay’s death.
Lil Tay’s former manager could not confirm or deny the news of her death
Just like Lil Tay’s father, Christopher Hope, her former manager Harry Tsang, told Insider that the situation was such that he could not confirm or deny the news.
“Given the complexities of the current circumstances, I am at a point where I cannot definitively confirm or dismiss the legitimacy of the statement issued by the family,” Tsang told Insider on Wednesday. “This situation calls for cautious consideration and respect for the sensitivities involved. My commitment remains focused on delivering updates that are both reliable and appropriately timed.”
