Adam Joseph Copeland, aka Edge, was previously a part of WWE for over two decades. During his time in the Stamford-based promotion, he has made a huge name for himself with his exceptional skills. Not to mention, he has bagged several championships and is a WWE Hall of Famer. However, he recently left the promotion and stepped foot into WWE’s rival promotion, AEW.
The Tony Khan-led promotion recently hosted the AEW WrestleDream PPV event on October 1, 2023. This is the event that marked the debut of Edge in the promotion. He appeared with his theme song and has been named ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Adam Copeland. This might be one of the biggest signings done by Tony Khan.
However, now it seems that despite signing wrestling legend Adam Copeland, aka Edge, the Tony Khan-led promotion has failed to win over WWE fans. Many fans have commented on Copeland joining AEW. One fan took their ‘X’ handle to state that they like Edge and like to see him wrestle. The fan added, “I don’t think he betrayed WWE. I’m also not going to watch him in AEW”.
I like Edge. I like watching him wrestle. I don’t think he betrayed WWE. I’m also not going to watch him in AEW. I don’t want to watch another wrestling show. Danielson didn’t get me to watch. Cole didn’t get me to watch. Edge won’t either 🤷🏻♀️

Good for him, I love that AEW exists and I’m a huge fan of Adam Copeland but I’ve tried watching AEW and it’s not for me so even signing edge won’t sway me to watch

I love Edge. My favorite Pro Wrestler of all time. But not even he can get me to buy a #AEW PPV or watch Collision or Rampage. #AEWWrestleDream

Several fans joined the suit and stated that they would not watch AEW “with or without Edge“. One fan even wrote, “As a edge fan it really hurts as much as I want to watch him I can’t bring myself to watch boring a*s AEW”.

Thus, even Edge’s walking into the Tony Khan-led promotion might not convince WWE fans to watch All Elite Wrestling. However, it now remains to be seen what plans AEW has in store for the ‘Rated R Superstar’ in the upcoming days, since the new member of the roster might be one of the promotion’s biggest assets.
Adam Copeland aka Edge comments on becoming a part of AEW
Former WWE Superstar Edge, now known by his real name Adam Copeland in AEW, debuted in the Tony Khan-led promotion towards the end of the WrestleDream PPV event. He walked out and destroyed Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus. Thereafter, he shook hands with Darby Allin and Sting.
After the end of the event, Copeland was seen at the post-event media conference. During his appearance, he commented on becoming a part of AEW. He started by saying, “Part of coming here is that I wanted to contribute”. The wrestling legend said that he wanted to help. He then added that he felt like in AEW he would be able to do that and would have the “opportunity to do that“.

He said, “I look at an entire fresh roster of faces and so many talent that I’ve never laid hands on before, and that to me, as a person who is driven by challenges, that was the biggest thing.” He mentioned that he never went inside a ring with Samoa Joe or Sting even after being a part of the wrestling industry for 31 years.
Finally, the former WWE Superstar said that he felt free and his debut felt fun to him. He added, “At this stage of my career, that’s just special. Thirty-one years in and to feel that way, that’s just a gift”.

As some of you may now know, I’m no longer with WWE. My new home is AEW. I’m excited. Whole new roster. Some familiar faces that I wanted to work with again and a whole set of first ever matches. New challenges, and if you’ve followed my career, you know…

Thus, it seems Copeland is extremely happy with his new company. However, now it remains to be seen how he will gradually showcase his outstanding skills in the Tony Khan-led promotion. Also, it remains to be seen if he, with his exceptional performances, will be able to drive more fans in the upcoming days.
