Kelvin Gastelum is a veteran in the game with victories over the likes of Michael Bisping, Ronald Souza, and Tim Kennedy. He is an all-rounder with the ability to either KO or submit his opponent at any given point.
At UFC Austin, he faced a tough test in rising prospect Sean Brady. Brady has had an amazing run with victories over the likes of Michael Chiesa and Jake Matthews. The No. 9-ranked Welterweight was undefeated until he faced Belal Muhammed at UFC 280 and lost via TKO. He plans to get back to the winning column with an impressive performance against a legend like Gastelum.

Sean Brady has a wrestling-heavy style, but he has shown his striking ability with 3 KOs in his career so far. Furthermore, he has four submission victories, showing his versatility as a fighter. A win over Kelvin would be a huge addition to his resume. Let’s find out who won the match.
Sean Brady vs Kelvin Gastelum results
Throughout the fight, Sean Brady utilized his wrestling skills with multiple takedowns on Kelvin Gastelum. In the first round, Sean put Gastelum on the fence and took him down. Furthermore, he tries to get Kelvin in a body triangle, but the veteran breaks free and gets up. However, he got taken down again and was on the verge of getting finished at the end of the first round.
Gastelum was using a more kick-heavy offense than usual, but it did not work for him at all. Sean Brady dominated the whole match with his grappling, while Kelvin was just giving up his back very easily. After two rounds, Kelvin Gastelum’s corner asked him to use a more punch-heavy offense, but it was already too late.

In the third round, after an unsuccessful arm-triangle attempt, Brady locked in a deep kimura for a dominant submission victory. He finished the veteran at 1:43 of the final round. This was a very one-sided fight, as Kelvin failed to offer any significant problems for the Philadelphia native. This was a really bad look for Kelvin, and it looks like he’s nearing his retirement.
Furthermore, during his post-fight interview, he went on to call out fellow welterweight prospect Ian Garry for a fight. “If Ian Garry gets through Luque, I want that. I’ll maul your boy,” said Brady. Fans will have to wait until UFC 296 to see if Ian Garry can beat Vicente Luque or not. If it happens, it will be a very interesting striker vs. grappler match between the two rising stars.
