Ian Machado Garry once again managed to live up to all the hype built around him as he absolutely demolished MMA veteran Neil Magny at UFC 292. A victory was seen coming for Garry, but fans are impressed by the way it came. Complete dominance by the Irish prospect right from the first minute of the bout
Magny was dropped multiple times in the first round itself after some strong calf kicks by Garry. Magny’s having small legs didn’t help his case either. Some strong right-hand jabs were followed by Garry. Magny attempted the same but could not land them.

Magny did come back stronger after his cornermen expressed to him that they were not happy with his efforts. Some quick left-hand jabs and low kicks were landed by Magny, and he even attempted a takedown, which was easily neutralized by the tall Ian Garry. The Irishman launched a head kick that dropped his opponent’s mouthpiece.
Garry continued his dominance in the last round of the bout, as he started some strong combinations and nasty body kicks. By this time, Magny looked like he had no answers and was getting beaten up inside the Octagon. The official scorecards read 30-26, 30-26, and 30-24 in favor of Ian Machado Garry, who won by unanimous decision.
The MMA world was impressed by the difference in scores between the two fighters being so high. Garry absolutely outclassed Magny, and the more surprising part for many was that he did it without any wrestling. Just sheer striking and some brutal kicks.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s 6-year-old record matched by Ian Garry
Although Ian Machado Garry claims to be the biggest Conor McGregor fan out there, his recent fight against Neil Magny helped him equal his idol’s bitter rival and one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s record.
In 2017, when Khabib took on Edson Barboza at UFC 219, he too dominated and secured a victory by the highest ever margin in UFC history.
The judges appropriately scored the fight 30-24, 30-25, and 30-25, which brought the difference to 16. Although Garry could not match the margin of 16 points as two judges ruled him 30-26, he did get a 30-24 just like Khabib, and to do it without any wrestling is kind of a phenomenal feat.
The young lad from Ireland has called out UFC welterweight veteran Stephen ‘Wonderboy‘ Thompson in his octagon interview with Joe Rogan. If that fight materializes and Garry manages to continue his undefeated record against him too, a title will not be too far for ‘The Future’.
