Adam Copeland made a huge move by deciding to leave WWE for All Elite Wrestling. Making his grand debut for the promotion, Edge made a surprise appearance on October 1’s WrestleDream PPV and received an absolutely epic response from the live audience.
With the 49-year-old’s AEW debut, fans were left elated due to the opportunities it opens. But some people weren’t happy with him for breaking his 25-year-long association with the WWE. In a similar fashion, The Rated R Superstar’s bitter rival has shared his views on Edge’s decision to join Tony Khan’s company.
The pro wrestling veteran we’re referring to is none other than WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. The Olympic Gold Medalist talked about The Ultimate Opportunist’s AEW debut during the latest episode of his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show.

The legend shared that he’s glad with this decision, as it has opened up possibility of a number of first-time-ever matches, which is great. Angle further said, “I think it’s really good. I think it’s good for wrestling. I think it’s good for Edge.”
Kurt’s comments are quite true, as there are a number of performers in AEW that Edge hasn’t ever faced. Moreover, he may have never gotten the opportunity to face them if he had stayed in WWE. Thus, it’s probably a decision that’s a good one, especially for those who wanted him to face top names from All Elite Wrestling.
Kurt Angle previously predicted that Edge would never join AEW
Even though the WWE Hall of Famer has now stated that Edge’s decision is a good one, his past statements weren’t the same. The Olympic Gold Medalist had previously predicted that The Rated R Superstar would never join AEW, and he was quite confident about the same.
Kurt said this during a past episode of The Kurt Angle Show. During that conversation, he shared his belief that Edge is loyal to the Stamford-based promotion and won’t leave it for AEW. He said, “I really believe he’s going to be WWE for life.”
The veteran added that while Christian Cage has joined Tony Khan’s company, he doesn’t really see The Ultimate Opportunist following that path. Despite the veteran being so confident about Edge staying in WWE, what happened was the opposite of his prediction.
The Rated R Superstar eventually made the unlikely shift by debuting at WrestleDream. Moreover, he revealed that Christian was a major reason behind him moving to AEW. As Edge did the opposite of what Kurt said, it was the probable reason why The Olympic Gold Medalist had to change his statement.
