Chad Wheeler is a former American football star who spent around four years in the NFL. Wheeler started his football career at Santa Monica High School and was rated a three-star recruit. After finishing high school, Wheeler attended the University of South Carolina and played for the USC Trojans football. However, Wheeler’s short stint in the NFL came to a sudden stop in 2021 after he was accused of domestic violence.
Chad Wheeler was signed by the New York Giants back in the 2017 NFL draft as a free agent. Owing to his multiple injuries and off-field issues, Wheeler wasn’t drafted out of college. After spending two years with the Giants, Wheeler was signed by the Seattle Seahawks and was added to their practice roster. A year later, Wheeler was promoted to the first team. However, Wheeler’s time with the Seahawks ended in early 2021.
During January 2021, Wheeler had allegedly physically abused his ex-girlfriend Alleah Taylor. He had reportedly held down Taylor and choked her. Further reports suggest that Wheeler, who suffers from bipolar disease, had attacked Taylor during one of his psychotic fits. Wheeler pleaded not guilty to the charges of first-degree domestic violence assault, domestic violence unlawful imprisonment, and resisting arrest after being arrested.

However, after a lengthy legal proceeding, Chad Wheeler has been found guilty. The court found the former Giants offensive tackle guilty of first-degree and second-degree domestic assault. However, the court did state that Wheeler wasn’t guilty of the charge of unlawful imprisonment. With Wheeler set to be sentenced next month, it is reported that the state will be seeking a minimum of five years sentence for him.

Meanwhile, Chad Wheeler’s former girlfriend Alleah Taylor has reacted to Chad Wheeler’s verdict. Taylor wrote on her X (formerly known as Twitter) account, “I finally have justice.” In a previous interview, Taylor had opened up about her traumatic experience of being abused by Wheeler. She revealed how she was left bloodied after being hit on her face by her ex-boyfriend.

Taylor further explained how she had managed to escape to the bathroom from where she called Wheeler’s father. Moreover, she also admitted how Wheeler remained unaffected by the incident and even expressed his amazement at Taylor being alive after he had abused her. Wheeler, who was released by the Seattle Seahawks soon after the incident occurred, had later apologized to Taylor.
He had shared a now-deleted post on his X account where he asked for Alleah Taylor’s forgiveness. He further admitted that the events had occurred due to him going through a manic episode. Admitting that he was ashamed of his behavior, the 29-year-old stated that it was time for him to step away from football and that he was leaving the NFL.
