Nikola Jokic just led the Denver Nuggets to win their first-ever NBA championship and it has been one hell of a ride. The Nuggets have failed to achieve this in their history. Jokic, arguably the best player in Nuggets’ history, has put on a phenomenal show for the last few years. Although it took some time to win, the Nuggets have stunningly completed the feat, beating the Miami Heat 4-1.
Jokic averaged 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists in 5 games, averaging a sensational double-double on the biggest stage. It is unusual seeing any less from a triple-double average from The Joker, but his efforts helped him to bag the Finals MVP trophy as well. It would be safe to claim that Jokic’s trophy cabinet at home will soon be stacked with prestigious accolades in the coming weeks, to add to his two NBA MVPs.

Speaking of home, Jokic has reportedly been eager to return to Serbia and it is for an unusual reason. It was all he could talk about despite winning his first NBA title just a few hours ago.
Nikola Jokic explains his love for horse racing
The NBA world must be aware of Jokic’s love for horses and horse racing by now. It is no secret that he rides horses in Serbia and even owns a few of them. It is certainly an activity he enjoys, especially to relax and relieve all the stress that he racks up on the NBA court. After the game, Jokic said during an interview, “The job is done, we can go home now.”

That wasn’t all. He also asked his Nuggets staff about when the parade was. After learning it was a couple of days away, Jokic immediately expressed his displeasure. The Joker mentioned that he had to return home right away.
Nikola Jokic: “When is parade?”
Reporter: “Thursday.”
Jokic: “No… I need to go home.”

In a recently surfaced interview, Jokic explains, “On Sundays, I have my horse racing. I have my horse racing… I don’t know how I’m going to arrive [in time]. I’m going to ask Josh [Kroenke] for a plane.”

Speaking of Josh Kroenke, he is the son of Stan Kroenke, who is the owner of the Denver Nuggets franchise, and several other sports teams. The Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group has managed to win many championships across different sports, and the Nuggets’ title win could be only their beginning.
As for Jokic, it is quite certain that he’s aiming to leave the USA before the championship parade. However, the Nuggets might convince their champ to stay for a few days, mainly considering how special of a title win this is for the city of Denver.
