Thiago Messi’s emotional letter before the World Cup Final motivated Lionel Messi for the masterclass
This isn’t the first time Thiago has captured headlines during one of Lionel Messi’s events. In December 2022, just before the World Cup final, fans were captivated by an emotional letter written by Thiago.
As the anticipation built for one of Messi’s career-defining moments, Thiago had heartfelt words of motivation for his father. Messi’s wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, shared a story on Instagram featuring Thiago’s notebook prior to the final.

Thiago expressed his feelings through the lyrics of a famous song, “Muchachos, ahora nos volvimos a ilusionar” (Guys, now we’ve got our hopes up again). In his heartfelt letter, written in Spanish, he stated, “I was born in Argentina, the land of Diego [Maradona] and Lionel, and of the Malvinas lads who I will never forget.”
Continuing his message, Thiago wrote, “I can’t explain it, because you won’t understand, the finals we lost, how many years I cried. But that’s all over now because in the Maracana, in the final against the Brazilians, we won again.”
He concluded the letter by saying, “Boys, now we are excited again. I want to win the third, I want to be a world champion, and we can see Diego from heaven, with Don Diego and La Tota, rooting for Lionel.”
Lionel Messi later revealed that he was almost brought to tears reading the letter. It gave him an extra boost going into the final, which he ultimately won against Kylian Mbappe‘s France.
