Gunther is without doubt one of the best pro wrestlers in the entire industry currently. The 36-year-old has been reigning as the Intercontinental Champion for 497+ days, and many consider his reign to be the best in the prestigious championship’s history.
Despite getting such appreciation from the WWE universe, the 6-foot-4 star will miss the Stamford-based promotion’s upcoming PLE, Crown Jewel. As per reports, the Austria-based performer will be missing the event due to a stunning reason.
Everyone knows that the premium live event is set to be held on November 4, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. But WWE has advertised for the Imperium leader to make an appearance at a live event in the United States on the same day.

On the live show, Gunther will be defending his Intercontinental title in a triple threat match involving Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura. Walter may have been very really successful in his historic reign, but it seems that he’ll have to do extra work for his upcoming title defense.
It must be noted that the IC Champion not being at Crown Jewel will be his third consecutive absence from a PLE. As the RAW star has been a dominant force, fans aren’t really happy with him possibly not being at the show. But as the event is over 10 days away, it can still change, so let’s see what the future holds.
Gunther isn’t the only champion who’ll miss WWE Crown Jewel
While it’s true that the pro wrestling audience isn’t too pleased that the reigning Intercontinental Champion is being kept away from the upcoming PLE, But the 36-year-old RAW performer isn’t the only champion who’ll miss next month’s Crown Jewel event.
In addition to Gunther, WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky is also reported to be missing the November 4 event. The reason for her absence will be the same as that of Walter, as she is also advertised to perform at the live show on the same day of the upcoming PLE.
The 33-year-old is reportedly going to defend her title against Charlotte at the live event. Even though both of these title holders are expected to miss the event in Saudi Arabia, it is still subject to change. Moreover, Iyo is set to defend her title on SmackDown’s October 20 episode, so it’ll be interesting to see if she can retain.
WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY and Intercontinental Champion Gunther are currently not scheduled for #WWECrownJewel in a few weeks.
As they are both being advertised for a live event in Rochester, NY on the same day.

Will the Triple H-led promotion change its plans so that it can have the champions on Crown Jewel card, or will they be seen entertaining fans in the United States? All this ongoing uncertainty will probably be cleared in the next few days by the WWE.
