- McGregor recently shared another tweet, sharing his interest in a possible return at UFC 300.
UFC icon Conor McGregor is anticipated to have one of the most awaited UFC returns to the Octagon in 2024. The build-up could only be close to the returns of UFC legends such as Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre, if not more. Although earlier on New Year’s Eve, the Irishman stated that he would be making his return against Michael Chandler at 185 lbs on July 29, many found it to be a joke rather than an announcement.
Conor McGregor recently shared another tweet, sharing his interest in a possible return at UFC 300. His probable opponent, Michael Chandler, agreed on the same, making his availability clear. The MMA community is still not sure when the Mystic Mac will make his return, and this has frustrated both his fans and his challenger, Chandler.
I get it. He’s coming off an injury, so that said, now that @TheNotoriousMMA is healthy…the question is, why wouldn’t it be #ufc300 ? It’s been 2.5 years… Get off the yacht kid…

In his recent tweet, the UFC fighter lent out his disappointment towards McGregor, sharing, “I get it. He’s coming off an injury, so that said, now that @TheNotoriousMMA is healthy…the question is, why wouldn’t it be #ufc300? It’s been 2.5 years… Get off the yacht kid…” This showed how much Chandler wanted to face The Notorious and why he didn’t take on any other fights for a year.
Conor McGregor shares new sparring video ahead of speculated UFC 300 return
Conor McGregor was seen in training in a recent sparring video uploaded by the channel The Mac Life. This can be considered a positive indication that the Irish fighter is closer to finally making his return. He last stepped in the octagon against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, losing via TKO through doctor stoppage. This would also be the night when he infamously suffered a broken tibia injury.
Conor McGregor was seen in good shape and form, although fans debated whether he had lost his original touch and flow. Many supported the former champion for making a return after almost two and a half years from a horrific injury. It is still not clear whether this return would be for the UFC 300 event, which could also be the biggest stage for his Hollywood debut movie promotion, Road House.
Daniel Cormier suggests Michael Chandler not fall for Conor McGregor’s games
Michael Chandler last competed against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281, losing via submission. The lightweight hasn’t been part of any UFC PPV in 2023, although he participated as a coach in The Ultimate Fighter 31 against Conor McGregor. They were set to face each other after the contestant winners had been declared for TUF, which is the usual format for the show.
With constant back and forth, Michael Chandler is yet to get an official date for his next bout, which is often teased by McGregor. UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier advised Chandler not to participate in Conor’s games, who is known to play with his opponent’s mental strength. Rather, he suggested the former Bellator champion take a stand for himself as an individual fighter.
