SUMMARY
- Jon Moxley, aka, Dean Ambrose is one of the most professional wrestlers of the current generation.
- The veteran made his WWE debut alongside Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns as a part of The Shield.
WrestleMania 40 had arguably the biggest main event of the event’s history, as Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to win the Undisputed Championship. The match saw several special appearances, including by The Undertaker, The Rock, and Seth Rollins, but at one stage, the WWE Universe felt that Jox Moxley, aka Dean Ambrose, would also show up at the show.
This happened after The Rock had taken out John Cena as The Shield’s theme music hit, and fans felt that it might really be Moxley. But it turned out to be The Visionary in the attire from his days with the faction, as he was taken out by The Tribal Chief even before he could have made an impact on the high-profile bout.
As fans felt that Dean might be making his highly anticipated return to WWE at The Show of Shows, Moxley was asked about the incident during his interview with Justin Barrasso on SI FanNation. During the conversation, Jon shared that he wasn’t even watching his former Shield mates Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins’ biggest WrestleMania match live.
As the audience was expecting an appearance from Jon Moxley at The Grandest Stage of Them All, this revelation is surely shocking for many. But it’s important to remember that he’s currently doing well on All Elite Wrestling, and that’s probably why he wasn’t available for the main event encounter at this year’s edition of WrestleMania.
What exactly did Jon Moxley say about WrestleMania 40’s main event?
After reports that Dean Ambrose wasn’t even watching the encounter, people have been wondering what exactly Jon said about WrestleMania 40 main event. Moxley stated, “I was asleep in Japan when that was going on, when I woke up, I had these messages saying ‘I thought you were coming out!’. And I was like ‘coming out where?’ — It’s cool that people thought it was me. But I was asleep.” (Via: X)

In addition to his comments about fans expecting him when The Shield’s theme hit at WrestleMania, Jon also talked about the continued success of his former partners. The former WWE Champion said, “What they’ve done, it’s a really cool thing.” Such remarks show the kind of individual he is, as he’s happy for the success of The Tribal Chief and Seth.
Will Jox Moxley ever make a return to WWE?
As Jon Moxley wasn’t present for the biggest match of his Shield mates career, fans have been wondering why exactly he left WWE for AEW in the first place. In this regard, it must be noted that the veteran was a part of the Triple H-led promotion for almost a decade but eventually ended his stint with them due to creative differences.
After leaving the company in 2019, Jon joined All Elite Wrestling, and has since been a regular part of the Tony Khan-led promotion. Despite his success in the Jacksonville-based promotion, fans still wonder if he’s ever going to make a return to the Stamford-based promotion. But as of now, it is unlikely to happen.
The reason behind this is that Moxley signed a 5-year contract with AEW in 2022, and it’s obvious that he would continue to be a part of the company until 2027. Amid this, it seems like the WWE Universe will have to wait for a long time before Ambrose finally makes a potential return to his former workplace.
