After weeks of uncertainty about whether he’d join All Elite Wrestling or not, Edge made his grand debut during the final moments of the WrestleDream event. The veteran coming out to save Sting from his real-life friend, Christian Cage, was crazy, and fans’ have been elated by the 49-year-old’s shift to AEW.
Showing disbelief at The Rated R Superstar’s shift to Tony Khan’s company, someone wrote, “Edge is in AEW?.” “AEW is going to level up,” an audience member said, while sharing how this debut could do wonders for AEW. “It feels unreal man,” another pro wrestling fan commented while sharing how this is insane. As the 6-foot-5-inch superstar has now joined WWE‘s rival promotion, but can he can replicate his past success? Only future knows the answer. For now, it has been announced that Edge will make his in-ring AEW debut against Luchasaurus on October 10’s Dynamite.
What led Edge to leave WWE for AEW?
The 49-year-old may have left WWE for AEW, but he reportedly wanted to stay with the Triple H-led promotion. It was said that Edge wants to continue his association with the Stamford-based promotion. But both parties weren’t able to come to terms to renew the contract.
Initially it was revealed by The Rated R Superstar in August 2023 that he is uncertain about his future. And after his August 18 SmackDown match with Sheamus, the speculations got higher.
This match was the last one in his contract, and it was disclosed that he doesn’t want to renew. But it was later reported that Edge and the Stamford-based promotion were far away on money. That was a probable reason why the legend didn’t renew his contract with the Triple H-led promotion.
“It’s the same thing (as Jade Cargill & AEW being apart on money) with Edge and (Drew) McIntyre.
Not that those deals are dead in WWE, but they’re not close on money and that’s where it stands”

After this entire saga, Adam’s contract eventually ended, and he made his presence felt in All Elite Wrestling. With The Ultimate Opportunist’s debut, AEW has potentially made up for the departure of Jade Cargill. Moreover, it’ll now be interesting to see which feuds will Edge be involved in the promotion.
