Draymond Green is one of the smartest minds in the NBA and he’s responsible for a large chunk of the Golden State Warriors’ success over the years. Earlier this season, we saw the Warriors crumble in his absence while thriving in his presence. With his high IQ and great sense of logical reasoning, Green shared a bit of his insight on the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. This draft class hasn’t shown as much hype as the previous year and he considers it one of the worst in league history.

According to the 4x NBA Champion, Bronny James is the only athlete that could things a little more interesting. On The Draymond Green Show, he said, “I also think it’s smart move for him go in this NBA Draft, because this NBA Draft will go down probably as one of the worst in history from a top talent standpoint. There’s not even a consensus number one pick.” This year’s projected No.1 overall pick, Alexandre Starr is being compared to Jaren Jackson Jr., which is a major downgrade from the previous top selection being compared to the GOATs.
Draymond Green affirms that Bronny James will have a successful NBA career
Not too long ago, Bronny James announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. He eventually revealed that he would compete in the 2024 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. Most experts and scouts don’t believe Bronny should’ve stepped out of college. But Draymond Green believes otherwise. Before commenting on the upcoming draft, he claimed that Bronny has a good chance of being a valuable star.
He said, “Bronny 100% will be a successful player in the NBA. Number one, he knows how to work. And if you don’t think knows how to work, go look at Bronny from his freshman year to sophomore, sophomore to junior, and junior to senior. There you will see a kid that knows how to work.”

Green highlighted Bronny James’ growth over the years while he competed at Sierra Canyon and the AAU. He added, “At worst, Bronny is an NBA-level defender that can knock a shot down. [Or] at worst, he’s a 3&D guy. So, three and defense guys and definitely valued and Bronny got a really good shot.” James hasn’t necessarily had the best stats, but Green claims several other players have broken past that barrier and excelled as a role player.
NBA General Manager claims drafting Bronny James is only to grab LeBron James’ attention
Bronny James spent only one season at the University of Southern California. Before making his college debut, the 19-year-old suffered from a cardiac arrest caused by a congenital heart defect. It took a while for Bronny to recover as he also had surgery. He made his debut eight games into USC’s 2023-24 campaign. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25 appearances while coming off the bench in 19 games.
An NBA general manager told The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, “There are probably three rounds’ worth of prospects more talented than Bronny in this class. So picking Bronny is more about getting LeBron’s attention right now than it is about developing Bronny himself.” But this has been an extremely common take according to most scouts in the league. Acquiring Bronny would only be a move to attract LeBron James to that particular team.
