AEW is surely having a lot of stuff going on their side at the moment. Over the years, Tony Khan’s promotion seemed to take every opportunity it got to expand itself to a larger audience. During their time of arrival, the Jacksonville-based promotion was seen as a huge threat to WWE and other wrestling promotions. Over the years, they’ve certainly made a name for themselves but failed to draw a larger audience.
They tried a lot of different ways to match up with their competitive promotions but failed to leave the same impact. In terms of ratings, they failed to draw over a million after some months of their debut. With the debuts of CM Punk, Edge, and various other top wrestling superstars, AEW is still unable to leave a huge impact on the pro wrestling scene.
After the shocking debut of Edge, AEW will be looking to set their sights on October 10, 2023, as they go head-to-head against NXT. However, WWE has planned a stacked-up card featuring a lot of main roster talents on display against Dynamite. American journalist Dave Meltzer has his theory about the head-to-head battle this week, which he calls AEW ‘cold’.
“They are cold, boy are they cold, and how to change that? Man, that’s hard to do… Edge there (at Collision) and it didn’t move a lot of tickets. Edge is a good performer and he’s a good talker and everything like that but it’s not Punk as far as a game changer,” said Dave Meltzer.
Dave Meltzer believes that AEW are “cold”:

During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer talked about how AEW is still not able to perform well despite Edge being on the show. He criticized the company for hosting their shows in Salt Lake City and also for having a poor TV deal. Dave believes that they might get back on track if they get a new and improved TV deal, which may help them in the future.
Can Adam “Edge” Copeland help AEW beat NXT on October 10?
Despite their attempts to draw a larger audience, AEW lost a lot of its viewership after CM Punk was released. Punk’s departure surely left a void to be filled, which was filled by The Rated R Superstar. Dynamite looks to lock horns with NXT on October 10, 2023, due to the MLB Playoffs.

With Dynamite featuring Edge’s AEW in-ring debut, NXT is going all out with the likes of John Cena, Cody Rhodes, Asuka, and Paul Heyman. There is a huge possibility that The Undertaker might make an appearance on the show to boost the ratings. It will be interesting to see the battle between the two promotions as they look to prove their dominance. Moreover, it might be possible for Adam Copeland to help AEW beat NXT on October 10.
