CM Punk has made a huge name for himself while being a part of WWE from 2005 to 2014. He then established himself at AEW, where he performed from 2021 to 2023. However, he was recently terminated from the promotion owing to a backstage altercation. Since then, there have been speculations about Punk’s probable return to the Stamford-based promotion.
CM Punk has a massive fan base, and they are extremely excited about Punk’s return to the Stamford-based promotion. However, while several speculations are going on regarding ‘The Second City Saint’s comeback, he himself has been teasing a WWE return.
Previously, Punk appeared on CFFC 125 (Cage Fury Fighting Championship) in September. During that, he stated that he had time on his hands for the next two months. It is to be noted that WWE’s PPV event, Survivor Series, is all set to take place in November, which would be two months from September. In fact, the Survivor Series is set to take place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.

In addition to that, Punk recently appeared at the Cage Fury Fighting event as a commentator. During that, another commentator mentioned to ‘The Second City Saint’ that he might be going to another promotion. The fan-favorite Superstar would then go on to talk about November. Meanwhile, ‘War Pigs’ played in the background, which was last year’s Survivor Series’s official song.

Thus, it seems CM Punk has been continuously dropping hints regarding a WWE return to the Survivor Series. These teases have been fueling the speculations even more, but if that indeed happens, it will be a big career move for Punk. However, though the 44-year-old Superstar has been teasing a potential return, the Triple H-led promotion seems to be unaffected.
WWE reportedly turned down former superstar CM Punk
CM Punk has been repeatedly teasing a return to WWE. In fact, his return to Survivor Series 2023 has been both hinted at by the superstar and speculated by his fans. However, it has recently been reported that the Stamford-based promotion has turned down ‘The Second City Saint’.
Previously, Dave Meltzer reported that Punk had intentions of returning to WWE, and the two parties were in talks. However, the report was squashed by a new report by ‘Fightful Select’. Fightful reported that Punk and WWE were not in talks. With that, now Meltzer has reported via ‘Wrestling Observer Radio’, that the Triple H-led promotion has turned down Punk.
WOR: They [WWE] turned CM Punk down. He wanted to go there and the decision was a no. It can always change, and it was brought up that there’s no such thing as ‘no forever’ when it comes to WWE but it’s no for now. That was the decision that was made. According to Meltzer via Wrestling Observer Radio, “The decision was a no. He wanted to go there and the decision was a no. I mean, it can always change and it was brought up to me that there is no such thing as no forever when it comes to WWE but it’s no for now“.
He also reported that the decision was taken by the likes of WWE higher-ups Vince McMahon, Triple H, and Nick Khan. As per Meltzer, the WWE officials decided “the negatives outweighed the positives”.
Thus, it seems as though Punk has been dropping hints that his return to WWE might not take place anytime soon. However, the Survivor Series is all set to take place on November 25, 2023. There might be changes in decisions leading up to the event. However, fans of Punk will wait eagerly to see what awaits their favorite Superstar in the upcoming days.
