With that said, Garcia will likely receive a big boost in his preparations, owing to recent news.
For the most part, fans will know about Ryan’s strenuous relationship with Canelo Alvarez. In the past, both fighters would train under the renowned Eddy Reynoso. Naturally, the friction also carried over between Canelo and Ryan.
Following his split with Reynoso, Garcia began training with Joe Goossen. Amid all these things, Canelo publicly slammed Ryan Garcia for not training hard enough and wasting his talent. Subsequently, Garcia who was initially playing off Canelo’s comments, picked Gennadiy Golovkin to beat him in their trilogy fight. Similarly, Alvarez also picked Gervonta Davis to beat Garcia, which is exactly what happened.

Whether he will realize his full potential has always been a big question.
Ryan Garcia faces Devin Haney next
Following what was a back-breaking loss to Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia did well to come back against a solid opponent like Oscar Duarte. Whilst Duarte was by no means a top-tier opponent, he was just the perfect layup Garcia needed to build himself back up. At the same time, Haney had a dominant win over Regis Prograis, which led to many calling for a fight with Garcia next.
With the two having fought numerous times in the amateurs, there was real history behind the fight. However, Ryan almost saw himself get swayed by Floyd Mayweather, who suggested that he should take on World Boxing Association super lightweight champion Rolly Romero first. After a lot of deliberation, the fight with Haney was finally announced and set for April 20th.
