The members of Christian’s patriarchal faction Shayna and Nick Wayne were seen assisting the TNT Champion throughout the match from the ringside. Fans noted that Adam Copeland was wearing the same gear that he wore against his match with Mick Foely in the WrestleMania 22 where he speared Foely through a burning table. It seemed like AEW wanted to recreate Copeland’s WrestleMania 22 match.
The fans were expecting to get some flashbacks but it did not go properly as the Rated R superstar botched. During the match when Nick Wayne got into a brawl with Copeland while assisting Christian, he was powerbombed through a burning table by Adam. But this powerbomb could not land properly and Nick went over the table without breaking through it and tried to sell the move.
Fans had epic reactions to this botch by Copeland and took on their X profile to write about it. One of the fans wrote, “I was hoping for a spear through the table much like the match with foley. They had referenced it earlier in the match”. He pointed out how fans were expecting something like a recap of WrestleMania 22. Another fan wrote,“ Why can no one ever just go through the table correctly” he looked frustrated about how the table move was not executed properly.
One more fan also wrote in the same manner, “Awful Botch Im glad he sold the fire but damn, Im amazed his spine survived hitting the ground” praising Nick Wayne for selling the fire and surviving the botch as he landed on the floor on his spine. Another fan wrote, “This entire sequence was hard to watch, nothing went as planned” questioning the planning behind the sequence.
Adam Copeland loses his TNT Championship as soon as he wins it
