Adam Joseph Copeland, who is popularly known as Edge, has a well-decorated career in WWE. He, with his exceptional in-ring skills, has bagged several Championships during his time in the Stamford-based promotion. Not to mention, he has also been added to the WWE Hall of Fame. He has been a part of the Stamford-based promotion for over two decades. However, his long run with the company might soon come to an end.
Edge’s WWE contract has been reported to expire this month. With that, speculations are arising that after his contract expires, he might sign with WWE’s rival promotion, AEW. Recently, Jade Cargill made a switch from Tony Khan’s promotion to Triple H-led promotion. Thus, AEW might retaliate by taking the Hall of Famer on their side. It has now been reported that “Edge is closer to AEW more than ever”.

The report by BWE also reads “Mind blown on how this business have changed yet so similar to WCW/WWF. The E are playing the right cards right now. Unless something big pops in AEW books in the future. I really doubt E come back with a big money move for Edge. Doubt it. If i get updates on it I will let you know”.
Edge has been removed from the Miscellaneous list of WWE’s internal roster.
A couple weeks ago, Edge was removed from the internal roster, but then added on the Miscellaneous list, which he has now been removed from too.
As of Oct 1, he is free & clear to sign elsewhere.

Thus, it now remains to be seen when exactly Edge’s contract with the Stamford-based promotion will come to an end. Also, fans would be waiting with eagerness to know if the WWE legend would soon be a part of the Tony Khan-led promotion. Since then, Tony Khan’s company has been reportedly eyeing the WWE Hall of Famer.
Why did Edge leave WWE?
Edge previously retired from WWE in 2011 owing to multiple neck injuries. However, his retirement wasn’t a permanent one, since the WWE Universe saw him making his return in 2020. Since then, he has thoroughly entertained his fans.
However, his probable final match with the promotion took place last month in his hometown of Toronto. Edge faced Sheamus in the match, and after a long and engaging battle, Edge managed to pick up the win against his opponent.

Following the match Edge said, “What I can say is that this is my last one in front of y’all. I don’t think I can make it another full run to get here again for a match. I’m just being honest with you”.
He then went on to thank his fans and cherish the experience they gave him. He also mentioned that he would never forget it. Thus, it can be understood that he might leave WWE because he wouldn’t be able to make another complete run with the promotion.
AEW star Chris Jericho talks about Edge joining AEW
Speculations are going on regarding Edge’s possible venture into AEW. Meanwhile, Chris Jericho of AEW, a former WWE Superstar, has recently talked about the WWE legend joining the promotion.
While appearing for an interview, Jericho said, “For (Edge) to come to AEW, it’d be a whole fresh new coat of paint”. He mentioned that Edge will have new opponents to face and might even get a new name.

He added “That’s the best thing about having AEW and about us being as successful as we are, is that there’s now a visible alternative. I don’t want to say competitor because it’s not that, but you can now go to either company”.
However, only time will tell if Edge will sign a new deal with WWE or if he might actually be a part of AEW. Till then, fans would wait with high anticipation to see what lies ahead for the Rated R Superstar in the upcoming days.
