Everyone is aware of the rivalry between the Las Vegas Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers. The players of the franchises might be on friendly terms, but the fans surely aren’t. A recent incident after the preseason game between the two teams further proved the rivalry.
On August 25, the preseason game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the 49ers took place at Levi’s Stadium. The Chargers emerged victorious, defeating the San Francisco 49ers by 23-12. Though things were normal on-field, it was quite the opposite of the field among fans. As per reports, a huge fight broke out at In-n-out Burger late at night around 11:12 pm.
The whole incident of the fight was captured on a CCTV camera. The video clearly shows ten people getting into a brawl and hitting each other. While some of them were wearing the Same Francisco 49ers jersey, others donned Tom Brady‘s dream team. After that 3 men attacked a shirtless man, beating him mercilessly.
One of those guys even had a knife and he stabbed two people during the fight. The people present at the burger outlet soon reported to the Santa Clara Police about the fight. After that, the people took the two injured men to the hospital, and they were reportedly out of danger. The police, on the other hand, have interrogated several witnesses, and are looking for the attackers.
The fight between the San Francisco 49ers and the Raiders fans is quite shameful. It’s about time that people understand that it’s a game, and should not take it personally.
Why did the NFL Ban the preseason games between the San Francisco 49ers and the Las Vegas Raiders?
The rivalry between the San Francisco 49ers and the Las Vegas Raiders has a long and dark history. Twelve years ago, the rivalry took a violent turn, which led the NFL to come up with a strict decision. After a preseason game between the two teams on August 20, 2011, the fans of the team got into a fatal fight.
The Oakland Raiders won that match, thrashing the 49ers by 17-3. As per reports, some people attacked a man inside the bathroom of Candlestick Park, where the game happened. Not just that, a fan wearing an anti-49ers jersey was shot “two to four” times after the match. One more person got injured during the gunfire at the stadium.
That incident was undoubtedly among the darkest ones in NFL history. The authorities were so concerned that the NFL decided to end the preseason games between the 49ers and the Raiders. However, the league resumed the matches once again this season in which the Raiders won over the San Francisco 49ers by 34-7.
This was the first year of San Francisco 49ers vs. Raiders since 2011, and this brawl happened. Now, it’ll be worth watching whether the NFL takes action again regarding the matches or not.
