It has been over eight months since Ime Udoka was caught having an affair with a Boston Celtics staffer. The woman involved was later identified as Kathleen Nimmo Lynch. She is considered a very important member of the Celtics organization and has close relationships with a few big shots from there. For a good amount of time, the Celtics chose not to reveal her name.

Kathleen’s career with the Celtics began eight years ago and she has played an integral part in the organization. She arranged travel, hotels, and tickets for family members of the Celtics. A verified Twitter account, The Shade Room, revealed that she is a devoted Mormon. Lynch is a mother of three children as well. The 34-year-old was always praised for the dedication and effort she put into her work.
Lynch was a very good friend of Danny Ainge, who is no longer a part of the Celtics franchise. The Daily Mail reported, “Lynch has longstanding personal ties with the team’s legendary former player Danny Ainge, who was the team’s executive director of basketball operations before leaving the franchise last year.” It is said that Ainge was aware that Lynch and Udoka were involved with each other but chose not to intervene. After he left the organization, it was no longer his matter of concern either.
What happened between Ime Udoka and Kathleen Nimmo Lynch?
Back in September 2022, the Boston Celtics head coach was caught having an intimate relationship with another staffer of the franchise. The woman was later identified as Kathleen Nimmo Lynch, however, her name was not revealed. According to the Bleacher Report, the Celtics were aware of the situation but did not intervene until Udoka began to pass unwanted comments about her.
Ime Udoka revealed that the relationship was completely consensual and romantic as well. Udoka was simultaneously in a relationship with actress Nia Long. They had been together for over a decade. Long severed ties with Udoka and the Celtics suspended him for an entire season. Ime will be returning next season but has chosen to sign with the Houston Rockets.

Joe Mazzulla was taken in as the interim head coach in Ime Udoka’s absence. The Celtics have had a great run in the Eastern Conference even without Ime. However, some people backed Udoka as it was a personal matter, but others hinted that the relationship is more “uglier” than what is known. Matt Barnes was one of those people who claimed to know the actual dirty truth behind the situation.
