SUMMARY
- The Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers are interested in making a move for Paul George.
- PG is on an expiring contract and has a player option for next season.
Although Paul George and the LA Clippers are still in playoff contention, teams across the league have already begun to show interest in acquiring the NBA star. To those who might not be aware, PG is an NBA veteran currently trying to get the Clippers past the first round of the postseason.
While George may be approaching the backend of his career at 34 years of age, he is still playing at a relatively high level and likely has a lot to offer any team that decides to add him to their roster. With that being said, let us take a closer look at recent reports and find out more about the teams that are currently interested in him and paying close attention.
The Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers have shown interest in acquiring Paul George
According to senior NBA writer for ESPN Ramona Shelburne, the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers have both shown a significant amount of interest in acquiring Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers. Since both these teams are eager to take their roster to the next level and establish themselves as legitimate title contenders, one could argue that bringing on George could help them.
“There’s two teams that are paying very close attention to Paul George: the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers, because both of them have the money to throw at him and have a need for a wing just like him, a veteran guy.”

Shelburne certainly makes a valid point on both teams having a need for a player like George. After all, the Magic could use his elite wing shooting and defensive abilities. The same can be said about the 76ers who do not have much depth and talent in the same position. However, one must wonder what it would take for either of these teams to convince the Clippers to trade away Paul George.
What would the LA Clippers demand in return for Paul George?
To those who do not know, Paul George is currently on a 4-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. Since he has a player option for the upcoming NBA season, he will be free to leave and join any team that makes him an offer he finds to be better. Since the Clippers already have Kawhi Leonard and James Harden on their roster, it is unlikely for them to offer George the best deal when compared to other competitors.
