The Premier League has been filled with twists and turns so far this season and the most recent clash between Manchester City and Tottenham wasn’t any different. Ange Postecoglou’s men walked into Etihad with the hopes of walking away with the win, but it looks like City put up a solid fight at home.
Son Heung-min gave City the lead with an unfortunate own goal in the 9th minute but managed to make up for it with Tottenham’s opener just three minutes later. Phil Foden and Giovani Lo Celso found the back of the net in the 31st and 69th minute respectively before Jack Grealish scored a fairly easy tap-in from Erling Haaland‘s cutback in the 81st minute.
Unfortunately for City, Tottenham’s star winger Dejan Kulusevski’s 90th-minute header left Ederson rooted to his spot. After scoring the goal, the Swede hit LeBron James’ infamous ‘Silencer’ celebration.

It looks like King James has had a big effect on the soccer star, who has had a decent season so far. Kulusevski struggled to hit the ground running in Italy with Juventus before Daniel Levy and Co. signed him on a permanent deal in June 2023. Although he couldn’t bring the victory to North London, the goal might still be fairly special to the star after he helped to salvage a point for the away team.
LeBron James introduced the ‘Silencer’ celebration in 2014
King James first introduced the celebration in 2014, almost a decade ago. The superstar was with the Miami Heat at the time and was playing against the Golden State Warriors that year. He managed to take the lead against The Dubs with a phenomenal three-pointer. That was when he pulled out the celebration, which involved LeBron pounding his chest and pushing his knee down.
James had a sensational season at the time, averaging 27.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 77 games (including playoffs). He led the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, who eventually won the series 4-1 effortlessly.
The celebration has grown famous worldwide over the years, with multiple athletes recreating it almost every year. It looks like Kulusevski is the latest sports star to join the list. Ohio State’s WR Marvin Harrison Jr. performed the infamous celebration in October during Bryce James’ unofficial visit.
It is no secret that LeBron has had a lasting impact on the sporting world in recent years, and there is no doubt that will be the case for many years to come.
