SUMMARY
- LeBron's position in the GOAT debate could improve drastically with a 5th NBA championship.
- There will always be fans who still consider Michael Jordan as the GOAT over King James.
Does LeBron James have any chance to cement his superiority over Michael Jordan at the end of this ongoing postseason? As most NBA fans should be aware, LeBron and Jordan are two NBA stars who are widely considered by the NBA community to be the greatest players in the history of the league.
Over the years, LeBron has gained a significant amount of supporters, and his claim to being the very best ever has grown dramatically. However, veteran NBA fans still hold fast to the notion that Jordan is the greatest and can never be surpassed by King James. With that being said, one should wonder if there is any hope at all or whether MJ will forever considered to be better than LeBron.
LeBron James will have a solid claim as the GOAT over Jordan with 5 titles and a plethora of accolades
At this current point in time, the Los Angeles Lakers are facing off against the Denver Nuggets with the hopes of winning an NBA title this season. Considering that the Nuggets are the defending champions and undoubtedly one of the top teams in the league, a consensus has emerged claiming that the winner of this first-round series will inevitably decide the NBA champion for this season.
Under the assumption that LeBron wins, he will have 5 rings and several other accolades such as being the all-time scoring leader to boast superiority over Jordan. After all, winning an NBA championship and Finals MVP as the best player on a team at 39 years of age will undoubtedly be a record with little or no chance of ever being broken.
Another postseason loss to the Nuggets could hurt King James’ case
As it goes with all the NBA greats, praise, and criticism go hand in hand. If LeBron James beats the Nuggets and wins an NBA championship, he may improve his case in the GOAT debate significantly. On the other hand, if the Lakers follow the pattern of Game 1 vs the Nuggets and lose to them by a large margin once again, it could inadvertently hurt LeBron’s case over Michael Jordan.
