Joe Smith, the NBA, and Golden State Warriors legend had recently made the headlines with his OnlyFans model wife Kisha Chavis over a video she posted on her Instagram account. The headlines were for Joe finding out that his wife had made an OnlyFans account without him knowing.
Just as Smith’s present life has been filled with drama recently, his past was the same before meeting Kisha and getting married to her, he was dating Moniece Slaughter. The woman who forged almost $109k from him in checks and he had no clue about it.
“I go to try and file charges but a lady would not allow me to file charges because they say… it’s a he says she say matter cause she was saying that I gave her blank checks to write a check and you know.. I’m coming in and saying that I’ve never given her checks so they say they can charge you with anything because it’s he said she said..,” Joe Smith said regarding the Moniece Slaughter forgery incident on VLAD TV.
He added, “So I couldn’t get anything back from it so it was just a total loss..and so to this day..to this day I haven’t seen a dollar back for me and I don’t respect the dollar back for me but I mean that it is just how it went down and how it happened for me..”
Joe Smith later accepted on VLAD TV that it was his mistake and immaturity to be fooled like that. Also, back in those days, he did not care so much about what was happening around him as he was so induced in the sport and himself.
Joe Smith made $61million in his NBA earnings
Joe Smith, a former NBA first-round pick, made $61 million in his 16-year career. Over the course of his career, Smith took home approximately $18 million, even though his total profits after taxes, agency fees, and management fees came to $61 million according to CNBC.

Although he took home $18 million after taxes, that amount is in itself huge enough to live lavishly in any given country in the world. Joe was a talented player back in his time and teams wanted him to play for them. He was one of the upcoming stars and hence he earned so much money in the NBA.
Joe Smith’s downfall was caused by his own actions
Joe Smith, a former player for the Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors, recently spoke on VladTV on a number of topics related to his life, both before and after he stopped playing. Smith spent two and a half seasons with the Dubs after being selected by the Warriors in the 1995 NBA Draft as the first overall choice.
He spoke about how his bad spending habits led to his downfall and not having enough money now at the very present. He said, “First thing I bought was my mom a house back in Virginia. That was the first thing I bought. I had a couple of vehicles, a couple of cars, a Mercedes.”
At that time, I had a white Land Cruiser. That’s what I started with. And a couple of years later, after I stacked a little bit, saved up a little bit, that’s when I was able to finally buy myself a home in the Bay Area before I got traded from the Warriors,” Smith said on VLAD TV.
Smith discovered that his fortune had vanished entirely as a result of careless spending, poor investment decisions, and an expensive divorce. And once he retired in 2011 and began coaching 10 to 15 hours a week, his salary, which had never been less than $1.3 million a year while he was in the NBA, crashed.
