NBA fans are quite skeptical after finding out the latest justification provided by Ja Morant. As we should be aware, the Memphis Grizzlies star has recently been dealt a 25-game suspension for repeated association with firearms.
Although guns are legal in the United States, Morant is also considered a responsible member of society and should be held accountable for his influence over others. He had to be punished severely after failing to change his ways after his first suspension.
Now that the NBA offseason is here and there isn’t much for fans to talk about, Morant’s issue has gained significant publicity. That said, let us take a closer look at a recent video he posted and how fans are reacting to it.
Fans mock Ja Morant for indicating that his gun is just a lighter
One can only wonder what is going on in Morant’s mind at this moment. He should have certainly not flashed a gun on a social media live stream after having already been punished for similar behavior. Now, it looks like Ja stands to lose a significant amount of money as well along with his 25-game suspension.
Ja’s PR and management team must have undoubtedly had their hands full taking recent events into consideration. Perhaps, they encouraged him to post this video in order to create an impression that things aren’t what they seem to be.

The video in question is of Morant holding a toy gun lighter and lighting candles with it. The intent is to clearly indicate that all the prior incidents involving firearms are in dispute since “he never really had a gun with him.”
Many fans were smart enough to see through this act instantly and called Ja out in the comments section, “Yeah Ja we believe you…”

I don’t understand why he’s even in trouble.
Dude had his legally owned fire arm that he was lawfully in possession of?
Not like he was shooting at people or anything….

Others took the opportunity to make their stance on his case clear. There is still a fair share of fans defending Ja since he never did anything wrong with firearms and has a legal right to carry weapons. In any case, we hope that he is genuine regarding his actions, whatever they may be, moving forward. Hopefully, he can put all of this behind him and embrace a better future that awaits him in the NBA.
