Nate Robinson is a former basketball player and the only player in history to win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest three times. His 11-year-long and storied career came to an end after he was diagnosed with renal kidney failure in 2018. Recently, Robinson made an appearance on “The OGs” podcast and made bombshell claims about Doc Rivers and his former Boston Celtics teammates.
In the latest episode of the podcast, former Miami Heat teammates Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller were discussing Rivers’ inability to lead the Bucks and Robinson interfered as he said, “It seems like he messes up every place he goes.” The ex-NBA player went on to reveal how he still has a little beef with his former head coach and accused him of purposely ensuring that he didn’t get his $1.5 Million bonus.
Robinson explained that as per his contract, he could have made $1.5 Million in bonus if he had played a certain amount of games. However, Rivers ended up giving him a DNP in the game where he needed just one more game to get this. Furthermore, he recalled the conversation he had with his agent after the game wherein he told him that Rivers did this on purpose.
“‘Bro, I come from the [New York] Knicks.’ I was just playing, and then I didn’t play. That’s a clear sign. Why would he give me a DNP for? I’m not hurt. I’m ready to go. What was the reason?” Robinson revealed what he said to his agent after he told him that there was no proof that Rivers did this on purpose. In addition to this, he highlighted that he never asked the coach the reason but he knows that he did it on purpose.

“But they were telling me, ‘Nate, you wanna play in this league a long time, you gotta be professional,” the former NBA player added. Furthermore, he revealed how everyone told him that these actions could lead him to the D-League and they try to hold over your head to keep you in line, etc. Even before revealing the story, Robinson said that it is just one of those times when you can’t go and tell anyone about what is happening.

Furthermore, he clarified that he loved the team that he was on. “KG, Paul, Ray — they showed me love. And then they were just like, ‘Yo, that’s kind of f—– up that’ — and they were like, ‘He knows, too,” the former Celtics star added to explain. Further, Robinson again emphasized that the whole organization was aware of what was happening to him.
