Luka Doncic recently pulled off an incredible move against LeBron James that has caught the attention of the NBA world. As many fans should be aware, Luka and Kyrie Irving have gotten off to a hot start for the 2023-2024 NBA season and are arguably one of the best teams in the league. At the moment, the Dallas Mavericks hold a record of 10 wins and 5 losses.
Their most recent victory came by defeating LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers, who now have a record of 9 wins and 7 losses. The Mavericks beat the Lakers with a narrow 104-101 win. In this intense matchup, Luka ended up pulling off a move that had fans impressed. With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out more.
Luka Doncic nutmegs LeBron James for an open three-pointer
Although there is no denying that King James has an incredibly high basketball IQ, one could argue that Doncic is in the same league given that he is both a gifted scorer and playmaker. Luka’s numbers for this game clearly indicate that he was the best player on the court. Doncic finished the night with a game-high 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists.
During a certain play in the second quarter of the game. Doncic dribbled closer to the rim and threw a bullet pass across the court to find Josh Green for the open three-pointer. Most importantly, Luka managed to thread his pass right between the feet of a disoriented LeBron James.

Thankfully for Doncic and the Mavericks, Green cashed in on the near-perfect pass that he had been given by Luka Doncic and made his three-point shot. Since the Mavericks ended up winning the game by just 3 points, one could argue that this play was pivotal to the outcome of this match between the Lakers and the Mavs.
Is Doncic a better passer than LeBron?
Out of all the young stars in the league, an argument could be made that Luka’s game is most similar to LeBron’s. After all, he is just as well-rounded and can do almost everything on the court. The only major noticeable difference between them is the significant gap in athleticism.
Coming to their respective passing abilities, King James has averaged 7.3 assists throughout his 21-year NBA career so far. On the other hand, Luka has averaged 8 assists a game in his 5-year career so far. Therefore, if we look at the statistics alone, Doncic might just be a better passer when compared to James. However, we should wait for both their careers to end before coming to a conclusion on this subject.
