DeMar DeRozan recently discussed Bronny James and the impact that he will have on USC. As many NBA fans should be aware, Bronny is the eldest son of LeBron James and currently playing college basketball for the USC Trojans. Given the credentials that his father brings to his name, Bronny has already been a subject of discussion among both NBA fans and players.
DeRozan is a certified star in the league and is best known for his elite midrange shot. The Chicago Bulls star linked up with Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George for a podcast episode. Fans will know that PG has been engaging in podcasting along with Draymond Green and other NBA stars across the league in a seemingly growing trend.
In any case, Paul George invited DeRozan as a guest for one of his episodes. They ended up discussing Bronny James and the USC Trojans since DeMar also played for the same team in college. Now that we have the context for the situation, let us take a closer look and find out more.
DeMar DeRozan believes Bronny James will bring attention to USC
Although college basketball is given a fair share of attention in the United States, especially during March Madness and so on, there are several colleges that are not given their due respect despite having produced certified NBA stars over the years.
It might interest fans to know that DeRozan also attended college at USC, making him Bronny’s senior in a manner of speaking. He discussed how the very presence of LeBron’s son could turn things around for the USC Trojans.
“It’s definitely going to be a mini Staples center in there. When I went there, I always used to wonder like, Man why we don’t get more attention? Why more guys don’t want to come here and be in the middle of LA, down the street from the Staples Center and really just build this university up.”
DeRozan continued, “More for the basketball side, you just need that big name to come there to bring that attention and he the perfect person. The way he come in, the way he gonna handle it, the attention he going to bring and the player that he is, I think is going to push SC to another level that we haven’t seen yet.”
Although having Bronny will certainly give the USC Trojans a fair share of attention, it will also open them up to criticism regarding their performance over the next few years. We look forward to finding out how Bronny James’ college career with USC goes down.
