When you talk of father-son bond, you can’t miss out on the O’Neals. Shareef O’Neal, the American basketball player who last played for NBA G league Ignite, is the son of Hall of Fame player Shaquille O’Neal. Shaquille is a father to 6 children, Taahirah, Myles, Shareef, Shaqir, Amirah and Me’arah.
A recently surfaced video captured a fun moment between Shareef and his dad Shaquille. Shareef is seen messing with his dad while he is sleeping on the flight, he picks up a piece of food and takes it near his mouth prompting a reaction to which Shaquille wakes up looking startled and agitated. Fans couldn’t help but burst into laughter and it drew hilarious reactions.
A viewer who goes by the name ‘ephraimalves3505’ reacted by saying, ”There is no more footage because he got their a** whopped after that.” Now that is a fun turn to the event and the audience would of course want to know what happened. Another viewer commented, “he wasn’t angry he was just like “Dam, what y’all eating.” And this one does seem relatable for a lot of them.
Adding to the banter, another person commented, ”Shaq got up like my mom hearing the fridge door opening at 3 am, I know he is not still up.” The audience sure had fun relating the incident with every bit of their lives and how they are colossal stars but they are no different than any of us which sure is surprising to many.
While Shaquille still holds the aura and image that he had during his time as a player. But this sweet moment he shared with his son just proved, after all, that he is still a father. It appears that Shareef, the 23-year-old star, shares an endearing and close bond with his father.
Where is Shareef O’Neal now?
In a recent video shared by Taahirah O’Neal, we can see brother Shareef and father Shaqeel engaging in a shooting contest on the court at an odd hour. Shareef just proved how he is abiding by his father’s advice “Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something.“- by honing his shooting skills. The 23-year-old did not just inherit the name but also his father’s shooting skills, where he was a poor shooter beyond 3 feet.

Shareef also underwent open heart surgery at the age of 18 and opened up about the same at a podcast ‘Now For Later’. Junior O’Neal gets candid about how he can not think about it for so long but then a small incident can bring it all back suddenly which is something he is trying to work on. He also discussed his friends Bronny James and Hamlin who also went through a similar experience.
Despite the hurdles, the NBA G-League, recovered from heart surgery to prove himself a force and is all ready to leap for bigger dreams. This determines his resilience towards his dreams. He does not want to be known as Shaq’s son but to create a space and legacy for himself.
