Lamar and Kobe were more than just teammates as can be seen from the tribute Lamar gave to Kobe on his Instagram. He stated, “He taught me so many things in life that were necessary on and off the court.”
He continued, “On the court he taught me how to carve out defenses and how to take my time. How to make winning my ultimate goal. Off the court he taught me to sign my own checks lol.” As he reflected back on the things that Kobe taught him that he seemed to be grateful about.
Furthermore, Lamar also revealed that when he was in a Coma situation, he would have happily given his own life instead of Kobe’s, if god would have asked him. This indicates the strong bond they both shared.

Even though Lamar is a year older than Kobe, he strongly believes that Kobe has taught him so many things in life. He also mentioned, that their relationship wasn’t like a father and son, rather, it was more like Kobe being the teacher, and Lamar as his brother.
Lamar has reminisced about the relationship he shares with the Lakers star Kobe multiple times over the years after his death. On his appearance at All The Smoke, he talked about how Kobe helped him through his gambling addictions. He mentioned that he owed more money than he could possibly afford.
Even though he was reluctant to reach out to Kobe, he went for it. Kobe got him out of it with the help of his representatives after scolding him.
