Kendrick Perkins criticizes Darvin Ham amid Lakers struggles
ESPN personality Kendrick Perkins has shared his views on struggles faced by the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers with a 17-19 record and 11th in the Western Conference standings, are dealing with some serious problems that have affected their performance.
Perkins, known for his straightforward analysis criticized Lakers’ head coach Darvin Ham. The team’s recent poor performance which includes losing nine of their last 11 games, has led many to question Ham’s strategies, especially regarding his use of LeBron James as point guard and the overall team chemistry. Perkins highlighted that playing LeBron at point guard is unsustainable and called for players like D’Angelo Russell to step up.
“LeBron James playing the point guard, that’s not gonna be sustainable,” Perkins said. “D’Angelo (Russell) gotta find it within to pick up the pace. I will not let Darvin Ham off the hook. He gotta elevate his game as well, with his rotations, with his set-calling, with everything across the board.”
He also highlighted the team’s need for players to elevate their game and fill the gap left by players like Dennis Schroder. Despite LeBron’s outstanding form, the Lakers’ offense, particularly their 3-point shooting has been poor.
Perkins urged Ham to improve his game management, including rotations and set-calling. The month of January is a crucial phase for the Lakers in their season, the pressure is increasing on both the players and the coaching staff to turn things around.
