The Golden State Warriors have become one of the best NBA teams in the last few years. Since 2015, the franchise has won 4 NBA championships. Klay Thompson has been one of the pillars of the dynasty they have built in the NBA. Klay is part of a legendary team that also includes the likes of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
However, one player that many seem to forget is Kevin Durant. KD joined GSW back in 2016, leaving his beloved Oklahoma City Thunder behind. That was a decision that caused many to hate him. However, Durant shot back at his haters when he won back-to-back championships with the franchise.
Recently, Klay has spoken out about playing with Durant and Stephen Curry on the same team. On the latest episode of the All The Smoke podcast, Thompson revealed how it reminded him of what his father Mychal Thompson told him.
Klay Thompson played with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant for 3 years
Thompson said, “When I would think about bringing KD on board, I would think about the stories my dad would always tell me about playing with Magic and Kareem. He’s like, ‘Yeah I thought I’d get to practice early every day, and I’d see Kareem practicing his skyhook 30 minutes before practice, every day.'”

The 32-year-old concluded his overall experience by saying, “I’ll walk in see KD and Steph working out different baskets, crazy.”
The Warriors star’s father, Mychal was an NBA player back in the day. He won the NBA championship on two occasions with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1987 and 1988. He was with the LA-based franchise from 1987 to 1991. During his time in LA, he played with NBA icons like Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. It seems like he was in awe when he saw those two legends train to become the best.
Similarly, Klay felt star-struck when he saw Steph and Durant train every day to win the NBA championship. Moreover, he comments on Durant’s work rate, mentioning that he would tell his kids about his former teammate in the future. That speaks at length about how surprised Klay was with KD, his mentality and what he was willing to do to win.
Many of Durant’s haters often claimed that he wasn’t willing to put in the work to win. Klay’s recent comments indicate that he was just as hardworking as the other Golden State Warriors players.
