The LA Clippers and other teams were battling for the league title in 2020, in the NBA bubble, making it an unforgettable period in the league’s history. That season, the Clippers had a fantastic collection of players and nearly made it to the conference finals. One of them was Lou Williams.
Lou Williams played for the Clippers in 2020. The news began to circulate that the Bubble winners would not be regarded as legitimate victors. According to Williams, they held back that season because they wanted the title to be significant.

Wiliams said, “We didn’t really see a pot of gold at the end of it. We started to hear the rumblings that nobody is going to respect this chip, so we kind of just took our foot off the gas.” Fans found these claims by Williams to be bullish and trolled him on X (formerly Twitter) for it. One fan wrote, “This is the saddest excuse ever”.
Sadly, the storyline of the season discouraged the LA Clippers when they had a legitimate chance to win the championship. Ultimately, the NBA trophy made its way to Los Angeles following the LA Lakers’ victory over the Miami Heat.
The son of Ice Cube criticizes former Clippers guard Lou Williams’ “Bubble” championship claims
Lou Williams has made the headlines recently over his comments/claims that they did not take the 2020 NBA championship seriously. These claims did not go down well with the fans of the NBA as well as the LA Clippers. Not only that, famous rapper Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson also reacted to these claims made by Williams.
Lmfaooooo took your foot off the gas? Up 3-1? When did you take your foot off the gas when you were up 18 at halftime of game 6?
And then what y’all just knew y’all were winning the chip right? So you dismantled your roster the next year? That’s why y’all let Trezz go? CAAAP. https://t.co/0N44bfqpsm

Jackson does not believe Willaims’ claims and thinks he’s a liar. He said, “Lmfaooooo took your foot off the gas,” Jackson Jr. ranted on Twitter. “Up 3-1? When did you take your foot off the gas when you were up 18 at halftime of game 6? And then what y’all just knew y’all were winning the chip right? So you dismantled your roster the next year? That’s why y’all let Trezz(Montrezl Harrell) go? CAAAP.”
It remains to be seen whether Lou responds to Jackson’s comments regarding him but for now, it does not look good for him, his bullish claims have gone viral on the internet and it makes himself as well as his team-mates look foolish.
Lou Williams’ influential season with the Los Angeles Clippers
Lou Williams was an important asset to the Clippers’ squad back in 2020. His ability to score in huge bunches is what makes him a special player. He always used to step up in clutch moments for the team and their fans. He was known for his relentless work rate.
Williams was a dependable scoring option for the Clippers off the bench. He was a vital member of the squad because of his offensive variety, which included a lethal mid-range game and an inclination for drawing fouls. He also won the NBA sixth man award twice. This speaks volumes for himself and how good he was coming off the bench.
