It was just a normal evening for Nets star Kyrie Irving when he decided to share a link to a documentary on social media. However, things have gotten nothing but worse since he did so. The alleged Anti-Semitic nature of the film drew the attention of Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai. Basketball fans had their say on this issue as well. Finally, it seems the NBA commissioner Adam Silver has decided to take action.
We know the commissioner is the organizational face of the league. He is the greatest authority and is a figure that should be respected. Silver released a statement recently on this issue surrounding Irving. One must wonder what he said and plans to do about this whole situation.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver plans to meet with Kyrie Irving over Anti-Semitic behavior
It seems that Mr. Silver wants to give Irving a good old talking-to. At least that is what he indicated in the statement officially released by the league. He did not sound too friendly or try to downplay the situation Kyrie Irving caused in any way. Here is what the statement said.
“Kyrie Irving made a reckless decision to post a link to a film containing deeply offensive antisemitic material. While we appreciate the fact that he agreed to work with the Brooklyn Nets and the Anti-Defamation League to combat antisemitism and other forms of discrimination, I am disappointed that he has not offered an unqualified apology and more specifically denounced the vile and harmful content contained in the film he chose to publicize. I will be meeting with Kyrie in person next week to discuss the situation.”

Thus, Silver concluded this message, which was promptly shared on all social media platforms. People will be curious as to how this is going to play out. On one hand, we have people like Adam Silver who feel Irving should make a public apology.

Suppose Kyrie does not feel remorseful, will Silver punish him? or will that be the decision of Joe Tsai and the Nets? In any case, we will find out how this interaction goes down in the following week.
