Things do not look too good for Klay Thompson at the moment. Most NBA fans should certainly be aware that Thompson is the shooting guard for the Golden State Warriors and is nicknamed a splash brother alongside Stephen Curry. However, he has not been doing much justice to his nickname this season and has been struggling to play well.
Since several other main stars on the Warriors seem to be going through their own struggles, Steph Curry has been doing his best to carry the team and keep them in contention for a spot in the NBA playoffs. However, one could argue that the current situation between Klay Thompson and the Warriors management might just be a problem that GSW will have to deal with,
NBA experts reveal that Klay Thompson turned down a $48 million extension from the Golden State Warriors
There is no getting around the fact that Klay Thompson has been struggling this season, In the 22 games played so far this season, Thompson has been averaging 15.4 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Considering that these are the lowest numbers he has put up since his rookie year, fans are quite worried about Klay’s future with the Warriors.
Shams revealed that the Warriors had initially offered Klay a $48 million extension to start off the 2023-2024 NBA season. However, Klay likely believed he was worth more and turned down the extension. By doing so, he decided to bet on himself and his play for this season, “I’m told that the Warriors offered a deal, 2 years in the range of $48 million in an extension to Klay Thompson before the season, and now there’s no deal.”

Given that he has certainly not lived up to expectations so far, one should wonder if Thompson made a mistake by turning down the contract extension, To make matters worse for the GSW star, Charania revealed that the deal was now off the table. That means Klay could be making far more than $24 million a year if he does not improve his level of play.
Fans are left wondering if the Golden State Warriors management will put their feelings to the side and offer Klay a low-value contract if he does not play better for the remainder of this season.
