Zion Williamson recently discussed the dynamics between himself and the New Orleans Pelicans. As many NBA fans should certainly be aware, Williamson was the first pick of the 2019 NBA Draft and selected ahead of other players such as Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Although there is no denying that Zion is an unreal talent on the court, he has already been involved in a lot of negative publicity for his activities on and off the court. However, his most recent statements seem to indicate that he has put his past behind him heading into the season.
With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out more about the current relationship between Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans management.
New Orleans Pelicans had doubts over Zion Williamson’s priorities
This offseason has not been a good one for Zion. Some fans will remember that he was reportedly involved in a relationship with an adult film actress called Moriah Mills. She accused him of impregnating her and avoiding his responsibilities as a father. Mills even went on to urge the New Orleans Pelicans to reconsider keeping Zion on their roster.
Although the Pelicans had no reason to listen to Moriah, there is no denying that her accusations portrayed Williamson in quite a bad light. It was also quite a bad time for him to face scrutiny considering the fact that he was dealing with injuries throughout last season.
Zion Williamson looks to overcome injury woes
While Williamson might not have gotten off to the start that he wished for when being drafted into the NBA, he continues to remain confident in his ability to get his behavior and actions back on track this season. During a recent interview, Zion revealed that he had various meetings with the New Orleans Pelicans and has finally decided to buy into their program.
“Last year, we had a team meeting. We brought up some things I could do better. Especially with buying into the program… I’m trying my best to buy in right now.”

Unfortunately, Zion never went into detail regarding the program or his plans for the upcoming season. Considering that he recently signed a 5-year contract worth almost $200 million, it would be shocking if he wasn’t buying into the New Orleans Pelicans.
Hopefully, Zion is able to stay focused on remaining healthy and being on the court for his team. After all, that is probably what the Pelicans expect from him at this point in time.
