SUMMARY
- Anthony Edwards showed his favorite player, Kevin Durant who is better during Game 1 of the Suns-Wolves series.
- Michael Jordan believes Edwards is a special player.
Anthony Edwards gave the Phoenix Suns a huge wake-up call with an outstanding Game 1 performance. The 22-year-old showed an incredibly dominant side while the Suns scrambled to pick apart Minnesota’s defenses. Whatever the Suns did to stop Edwards did work and they ultimately put Kevin Durant against Edwards on defense. The Timberwolves guard simply had fun toying with Durant during the third quarter scoring 18 points.

There is something extremely special about Edwards’ ability to make his own shots. Edwards’ footwork played a huge factor in his scoring within the post. He finished with 33 points and managed to lead the Wolves to a dominant victory. However, credits also need to go to Naz Reid for scoring big numbers off the bench. Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels also anchored the Wolves’ defense.
Michael Jordan acknowledges Anthony Edwards’ dominance after slashing the Suns in Game 1
During a live taping of ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith could not help but gush over Anthony Edwards and what the youngster did during the Wolves’ victory against the Suns. Smith also revealed a short conversation he had with Michael Jordan and Michael Wilbon. Jordan apparently told Smith, “That brother [Anthony Edwards] is special, no question about it.”
Jordan is widely considered the greatest player of all time. In a recent poll conducted by the NBA, Jordan is considered the GOAT by 45.9% of athletes in the league. While LeBron James was considered the GOAT by 42.1% of the league. It isn’t a big margin, but to be complimented by Jordan ought to boost Edwards’ confidence moving into Game 2 of the Suns vs Wolves series.
Anthony Edwards outs Bradley Beal after handing over an embarrassing loss to the Suns
During the regular season, the Suns got to boast a powerful 3-0 record against the Wolves. Anthony Edwards claimed that Bradley Beal had a few words for Chris Finch. After Game 1, he outed Beal by saying, “He told our coach that he don’t think we play hard enough, man. He was right…He was totally right. We were out here just running around, letting them do what they wanna do, man.”

He added, “They’re great players. It’s going to be hard beating these guys, we gotta bring it every night. It’s just one game, they’re gonna be ready to go the next time we play them.” The Suns will meet the Wolves at the Target Center one more time before heading to the Footprint Center for Games 3 and 4.
Phoenix needs to decipher how to bring more offense while restricting Edwards from scoring. While double teams worked in Game 1, it gave more chances for Kyle Anderson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Naz Reid to score. Placing Durant against Towns wasn’t successful either, so perhaps giving Bol Bol more minutes could solve the problem.
