On October 10, ESPN released its list of the top 100 players for the 2023–24 season. While many players rose to the top, there is one player whose ranking has drawn criticism from some fans. It’s none other than the Miami Heat SG Tyler Herro. They ranked Herro lower than Scott Henderson, Chet Holmgren, Walker Kessler, and Cade Cunningham. This list raged the fans out.
After ESPN released the list, fans took their opinions and emotions to the X and one of the Miami Heat fans wrote “Ranking a rookie who hasn’t played a single game yet above bro is mad disrespectful lol.” Well, it does make sense as Scoot Henderson has not played a single game yet. Herro has arguably been one of the best shooters for the Heat. His absence was duly noted in the NBA playoffs.

Since suffering an injury in the first playoff game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Tyler Herro has received less attention than he deserves. Herro averaged over 20 points per game for the previous two seasons despite his injury. In addition, Herro played a significant role in Miami’s recent success.
Conversely, Henderson has yet to take the court in an NBA game. As the upcoming season draws near, Herro is becoming more motivated. He was reportedly at the center of all trade talks that the Blazers held with the Heat, for Damian Lillard to join Jimmy Butler.
Is Tyler Herro better than Scoot Henderson?
With the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA draught, the Miami Heat chose Herro on June 20, 2019. Among the 2019 draught class’s first-year players, they voted Herro the best shooter. They also named him to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in the following year. He made the NBA Finals while playing for the Heat in his first season. The NBA Sixth Man of the Year award was given to him in 2022. In 2022-23 Tyler had an average of 20.1 PPG, 4.2 APG, and 5.4 Rebounds per game.
Whereas The Blazers selected Scoot Henderson with the third overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Henderson completed high school early and signed with the NBA G League Ignite at the age of 17, making him the league’s youngest player ever. As he hasn’t played any games yet in the NBA, he averaged 16.5 PPG, 6.5 assists, and 5.4 rebounds in the NBA G league.
